I downloaded the F@h but it couldn't connect. I think it's because of the firewall. I know the server IP from work but where do I have to put it and how?
Greets Pete (Borg more, fold faster).
Solved the problem myself allready: Reinstalled F@H and then I put this setting on:
Use Internet Explorer Connection Settings, and it works.
New question tho: I use this @ work, will it hold up the server from work alot and does this work the same as @ home? It only downloads the new 1 and uploads the old 1? For the rest it doesn't uses the server of work right?
Greets a faster borger!
It's using the spare CPU cycles to number-crunch. It will need to access the internet to download new work units and to upload completed ones. Same as home but you may find, like me, that your employer is less than happy that their computers are being used in this way.
I suggest you check because 'internet misuse' is a disciplinary offence in most companies. :(
I'll ask the systemdude, he's an okay guy but if I say it's reasearch for Alzheimer and stuff and just give him te link and so he'llprobably agree. Thanks for the answer m8.
I have most of the machines here borged.
The advantage is I'm the systems dude, and I say it's ok :)
I had to frig a bit with the ISA server settings to get it to send and receive, but it's running sweet now.
Currently on 13 machines, will be upto 15 by the end of the week with maybe 6 more after that :)
I am eagerly watching the detailed stats page to see these WUs coming in - I reckon you;ll hit a pretty high rate with that number of PCs
