I'm planning on updating the moderators on the message board. We're fortunate that we have almost no flame posts and remain free from spammers etc. So the moderation work required is minimal to the point of being non existent. We do still have quite a few moderators several of whom are no longer regular visitors to the dMw site and the rest don't really have anything much to do.
As we add more games the badges, forums and user groups grows steadily making it more complicated to keep everything in order. So I'm always looking for ways to streamline the board. Therefore I'm planning on retiring the moderators and creating a new more simple process.
First by default the admins of the forum - me, Tea Leaf, Penfold, Whitey, Gandalf and Benny have global moderation rights by default so we'll keep those and be able to look after all the general forums in Bricks 'n' Mortar and Community Section. I don't think we need any other moderators for these areas.
However I do think it's important that Game Leaders have control of their own forum areas. While we may not need to delete bad posts etc it would obviously be useful for you to be able to sticky and unsticky posts, lock posts, merge them and occasionally send them to 'Compost Corner'. So the plan is to use the red badge for the Admins to signify global moderator status and the game Leaders get a green badge to signify their local moderator status. This won't actually add any additional permissions for Game Leaders as you already have the ability to moderate your forums.
One or two non game leaders will also keep a Green Badge and some moderator abilities in order to manage parts of the message board they look after, such as the gaming Development area and the Folding forums. Nothing much should change as I say so this is for information only.

Done. Only KKND (folding) and Ghosty (game development) still have moderation privileges. All Game Leaders by default are Super Moderators, which means you can moderate any forum you have access to. Which seems sensible. One quick point is that as a rule we never delete threads or posts. They get moved to Compost Corner. Thanks
