I know some girls like that.

Fancy some of the lanmaniax ones, but I chose films cos I figured LOTR is a film so there you go.

RATs are good, but have played 'em too much....still fancy pron though...an adult after the watershed map selection.

The LOTR maps are a bit limiting to be honest. Small but beatifully formed like me!

Rats maps can be great fun so I'm well up for them.

Whatever maps we decide, lets get a pack put together and, if you want, I'll place the maps on my server for a while so that people can get used to them before the event.

How about running the XMAS maps during Christmas week and something else for the theme night. Not played the LOTR maps so they might be fun?

I think that you should not worry about playing TCS or not. Theme nights before have just been for fun.

The LOTR maps are a bit limited as stated as above. Some beautiful maps but not very fun playing.

The xmas pack has some really good maps that we actually never have played on a theme night. I know Stryker last christmas (no singing) wanted to have a xmas theme night but we never got round to it.

Rats maps have been played but it ended rather quickly and all went to the Hooks regular rotation instead.

We also have had a great Simpsons night with tons of laughs.

Good point bout The Simpsons Sadako - I forgot them tbh

Perhaps a separate night after crimble with simpsons models again - I only know of two decent maps themed like them anyway

BB - thanks for the offer of the server.  Will probably take you up on that nearer the time.  I'll probably upload any maps to an ftp for you to grab.

TCS - not going to work as Sadako said.  The emphasis should be on fun deathmatching (and drinking) and I don't think we either have the time or inclination to set up map boundaries for maps we barely know.

Once the thread closes (can the moderator close the poll at the end of the weekend please) I'll start fishing around for suitable maps and will probably enlist Smilo as my "second" for testing - Will make a nice change for him to be my bitch....   :D

I've got the mappack and have run a test install. You need to point it to the counterstrike folder that is below your steam username. For me that meant selecting:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\blueball@sutherlandweb.co.uk\counter-strike\

as the installation folder.

Hope this helps?

Sadako, can you add it to the download page of the webby internet thing?

I have done a full install and tested every map change (dedication thats what it is). As well as the mappack you also need two wad files that are missing. I have uploaded them too.

To recap:

Install the mappack to:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@yourdomain\counter-strike\

Unzip the moviewads to the SAME location (the zip file has the correct folder structure to cope from there)

Sadako, I have placed both files in LEECH/games/cs/MovieNight

You will need both for a succesful install

BB is proud to announce that BBs server is now running the following mapcycle:

de_batcave
cs_boxoffice2k
cs_duke2k
de_enterprise-D
helms_deep
helms_deep_ag
cs_moria2
panic_room
cs_pelham123
de_predator
de_rock
de_simpsons
de_springfield_v2
starwars2
cs_starwars
cs_theatre
de_tombraid

You will note that 747 is not there. That's because it sucks like a sucky thing and since it is my server I am boss :)    So there :narnar:

Sadako will (I'm sure) shortly have the maps avail for download from the webby thingy

Cheers Sadako. Website updated. Files are available here (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/downloads.htm)

My thoughts on the maps so far:

de_batcave <- has possibilities
cs_boxoffice2k <- Not too bad but could be a bit "linear" - cute hossies :)
cs_duke2k <- Very nice :)
de_enterprise-D  <- no use for TCS - not a good map
helms_deep <- OK poss difficult for TCS
helms_deep_ag <- OK  poss difficult for TCS
as_moria <- a bit of a race - there is another Moria map that is better REMOVED
cs_moria2 <- this replaces as_moria
panic_room   <- possibly not suited to TCS - a bit small
cs_pelham123 <- awesome map - really well done - no good with small numbers
de_predator <- we know this one :)
de_rock <- could be good
de_simpsons <- we know this one :)
de_springfield_v2 <- we know this one :)
starwars2 <- apart from the fact you can drive a tiefighter that sounds like a tractor this doesn't have much to recommend it :(
cs_starwars <- a bit too linear to be interesting
cs_theatre <- this has possibilities too
de_tombraid <- excellent map

To follow from BB I would say my faves are below.  However if we do a theme night it should NOT be TCS in style (as Sadako said before).  Therefore this alters my views somewhat from BB.

Definately:
Batcave
Duke 2k
Helms Deep
Pelham (from what film is this?)
Rock
Predator
Simpsons (1 &/or 2)
Tombraid

Possibly:
Moria (can you link to the better versio BB for me to check out?)
Panic Room (yes a bit small, but good fun for a total blast-fest)
Theatre OR Boxoffice (not both - too much the same imo)

Todays Homework Assignment -
I've been looking around for other maps based on movies and noticed a few but the links were all dead.  Could a few peeps look around in your well-known map haunts for the following (or any other movie maps) to see if they are interesting:

Resident Evil map
Die Hard map
There are also several Matrix maps flying around

Perhaps also the escape map where you have to escape from the bank vault as an ode to Heat?

In terms of skins there are very few decent film ones around so this part may well have to be binned.

Thanks for your work on this BB - Much appreciated  8)

Great film Shaw and Balsam were fantasic together.

Also Theme Night is for giggles and laughs, so I agree we could drop the TCS or at least use it where it works and play for fun on the maps that don't support it.

I think we would get better knowledge if we fill up BB's server.

My experience from e.g. as moria was that it looked great but when we filled the map with players it became immensly limited. Moria was one of the maps that me, Benny and Albert (and some more WAS guys) tested for a new map pack on N42.

de_rock and de_predator are very fun maps to play.

As stated before the theme nights should not be pure TCS. A mix of TCS, deathmatch and fun is what I advocate, with the fun part being most important.

as_moria in the mappack is not that one that I ran on my server last year (for the lord of the rings period we had). I preferred cs_moria2

I've found the old LOTR files and I'll ask Sadako to put a link to them on the website.

Is moria 2 the better map version were you dont start in a small room then go through the small midyard to the end? And have you seen a map which is from the movie lotr were the trees attack? And you can control the trees like cars very wierd.
Title: The Inaugural Theme Night
Post by: Anonymous on November 27, 2003, 07:12:29 PM
Yup, Moria 2 you start in a small room but then go through the HUGE hall plus several other areas.

I think the one you are thinking of with the trees is called Isengard - you can get them all from the download section of our webby internet thing - Look for Nippers LOTR mappack

All of these maps were created by members of the TCS community!!!

Maps available here (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/downloads.htm)

The mapcycle on my server is currently:

de_batcave
