Hey guys.
I'm not sure if this thread belongs in this part of the forum so if not please do the moderator/admin stuff and delete it and tell me where it's supposed to go :P
anyway I've decided that I want to gear a little up for the game release in form of a new keyboard and a mouse.... I've been looking at around the web but I'm not sure what to pick. I've head lots of good things about Razer products The naga mouse (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/content.php?191-dmw-amazon-shop) looks good and I remember that someone talked about it or a mouse like it during the wait time for accessing the beta servers last weekend. Not sure I have the money for it but the Anansi MMO Gaming Keyboard (http://astore.amazon.co.uk/deadmenwalkin-21/detail/B004LRO1BW) looks awesome too but a bit expensive though. As someone who has never raided I have to ask if the keyboard is needed for it's macro'ing or if the mouse will be enough for starters?
Anyway any advice on the matter would be very appreciated!
Karrth.
If you want macro buttons, try getting your hands on a logitech G15. Blue one (18keys x 3 =54) has even more macro keys than the orange one.
There's already 12 thumb buttons on the naga though; do you really need more?
I got the Naga mouse with 12 buttons works perfect.(TL got one also i thought)
I got the blue 1st gen G15 keyboard, and I've repaired it a couple of times just to avoid switching it out. The Naga mouse looks quite nice though. I have the M$ Sidewinder now, but the thumb buttons are few and hard to push, so my hand starts to hurt on the longer gaming sessions.

Same here! I also have the Logitech Performance MX mouse, with the darkfield laser so it works on all surfaces. No gaming buttons on it as such.
well... I've just been forced to do a complete upgrade of my gaming rig... It didn't make it through the beta test :'(
so I might be coming in and asking about computer parts later this week :)
Have you actually upgraded your rig yet Karrth as if you havnt i can probably help you build one (presumably within a budget) by pointing out parts OS etc as built my own only about 2 months back due to having an old Dell 2.4 ghz generic PC
No I haven't had a chance to buy something new. I've been trying to get a computer up and running.
The thing is, I knew my old computer was about to kick the bucket so I had talked to a friend about buying his, he's always traveling and stuff so he more or less only uses a labtop anyway.
But when I tried to boot his machine today it gave me a lot of trouble because of an error with the SATA raid drivers not being fully installed. But I did manage to get it working. (sorta :P)
I'll post the system spec's as soon as I've found them and if you guys have the time/desire then post your opinion about them :)
no problemo, try get hold of the component names etc as well as only so much can be learned from the official spec :)
CPU: Intel(r) Core(TM) i7 3.2GHz
Memory: 6GB (haven't been able to figure out what type though)
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 4670
I have to reboot the machine to get the name of the motherboard I think but this is what I've got so far.
Depending on age of machine (not old is my guess) id assume DDR3 memory, MHZ couldnt guess as there are different levels, what about Harddrive size? and if the machine is running an I7 you should be fine for processing power
I think the machine is pretty new (about 6 to 8 months)
Right now I got one of my own Harddrive's in the machine. It's an 1TB. I know it's not the optimal for a system disk but I've got nothing else atm :)
1TB should be fine as long as you ahve some external hard drives for storing large files etc, use ure 1TB for things you need to launch regularly (USB to PC communication can be pretty crappy) so Microsfot Office, SWTOR etc otherwise sounds like you will be alright system wise if this is the system you have got
awesome mate, saves me the trouble of going out and getting my hands on new hardware :)
Thanks for the advice :)
no problem, any issues just send me a personal message

They look nice, but seriously would you spend that sort of money on them?
Never seen such ugly mouse and headset, the keyboard hmzzz not for the money...
I watched Epiodes IV and V yesterday with my 1.5 y old son. Turns out he loves TIE fighters! Get em young :)
If I don't play today I'll watch VI and then maybe scrap the barrel with I, II & III.
Heh.... Life can be a bitch sometimes.
I got early access the 14th and I was ready to log in and play till my eyes fell out... Only to find that my new rig couldn't play the game smoothly.... Actually it was so slow in crowded area's that I had to close the game and walk away. BUT I AM SITH AND I WOULD NOT BE DEFEATED!
Day one) I went to the nearest larger city and stormed every Data/hardware shop there only to find that they didn't sell graphics cards. At all... Lord Karrth was not pleased. After wasting nearly three hours hunting through the city I found a gamestop and demanded they tell me where I could upgrade my puny rig. They told me I could go to the other side of town where there was a shop that sold graphics cards (Yay!) But they closed half an hour ago...
Day Two) ... Went to the shop located during the crusade the day before I acquired a new graphics card and then went and picked up my copy of SW:TOR. Nothing could go wrong now!... Until I got home and opened the tower and found my Power unit to be some weird Chieftec thingy and that the former owner had neclected to send internal power cables along! I had no way of powering my new card! After calling around to all the places that dealt with computer parts I knew of I found that no one had the required parts (was getting somewhat angry at this point) and after further calling around I got a hold of the company that, in their time, had sold the computer in the first place and they claimed that they did indeed have the parts. Problem was they where some 100Km away...
Day Three) a friend of mine had to go to the general area where the shop was located (finally some luck!) and after work we went there. After navigating the traffic we arrived at the shop and this is where I might have lost my temper a bit when one of the employees told me that they had never claimed to have said parts but he could sell me this fine new power supply... After negotiating a bit he went to the storage and looked around and behold he found the things I needed and I went home with a smile.
So yeah, my week have been shitty but I'm ready to go now :) Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent.
had a razer naga mouse for crimbo
