Our server sucks! 13:00 today, spot 534 in line, after 20 minutes still 475! the high hopes on new blades and/or intelligent distribution of incoming new players to the unpopulated servers did not happen!
That is spoiling the experience substantially!
I have elected not to join several times now after seeing a queue like that when I logged on. If they don't fix it quickly then they will lose subscribers as I'm not paying for a game that I regularly can't log in to without waiting an hour. In the mean time, I've played WoW with neither queue nor lag.
I just logged in briefly with zero queue time.
WoW was exactly like this when it launched, if not worse.
This isn't unsual for a new MMO, I imagine it'll take them a month or two just to get to grips with the server demands.
It's a no win situation to be honest. If the publisher opens up loads of servers so there are no queues everyone can get in but then in six months when lost of people have decided the game isn't for them and those who do play are not logging in every night the servers will all be under populated and no fun. Then servers will have to be shut and people migrated to new servers which is never well received. Damned if you do and damned if you don't  This is why, after starting about eight MMO's at the last count, I usually wait a month before signing up. It avoids the early pain. Small consolation to sitting in a queue watching the counter go nowhere though.
I expected the queues but what i have had so far is that i am in the queue for like 15 mins and am halfway the list but at that point get an instant join.
Yeah it can be a pain if you want a quick game but the game has just launched and as i know there will be something i don't really bother about it. I just log on and get in the queue and in the meanwhile i do some other stuff that needed to be done.
QuoteAs you may have heard already, BioWare is in fray of launch day and as we approach what is Prime Time, users can expect to see ever-increasing queue times on the servers. BioWare is aware of this and cautioned players from creating characters on high population servers. In Senior Online Community Manager Stephen Reid’s post on the official forum (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=60893), he recommends players avoiding a certain list of servers unless they are prepared and willing to wait long queue times. Reid also noted that BioWare is in the process of employing population caps to dissuade people away from creating characters on those servers but will ease up on the cap over time. For players that might end up on an overpopulated server and are frustrated, Reid also mentioned they are in the process of developing a character transfer system however, there is no ETA on when we will see it yet.

It is all a work in progress ;)

Was much better before maintenance today and yday evening as well! I definitely share Tealeafs opinion on that: these guys get our money (and that is quite some) and I care heck about the complexitiy of launching such a game, I want to be able to decide when I play and I want to get in instantly. Period! Definitely the lines in Wow have been annoying too, but they copied the wow concept, why copy the flaws too? Anyways have fun guys!

Way to many tanks in this game!
On the question of sever caps I wonder if this will cause problems for me when I try to join your server in the next week or so. I'm signed up with Origin and listed in the guild list on their site. Should be ok?

I expect they left the open window (as mentioned above) to allow guild people the chance to get on servers before they lock them down, as to the que's ive never expereienced them, im begining to wonder if its dependant on planet or RL location as when i was on dromuund kaas and Hutta yea i go que's, once i left the common planets (nar shadaa etc) i was going like a rocket

If the server is so often full (I notice that it's status seems to be 'Full' 'or 'Very Heavy') is there a feature to move servers on mass as a guild? Seems we might have picked a very bust server. From my experiences with World of Warcraft these busy servers never quite seemed able to shed the queues over time and with each new update, released feature and expansion they were always the ones to get locked up with queues. Moving at the very start might be preferable to waiting for the Guild to get established on the server.
There is no option we have to en mass, move hope no one has got our guild name or our names.
As for choice of server we were given this one so we are just unlucky.
I am back from running around the country like a loony tomorrow and will start to address the back lot of issues. Apologise

Actually que's seem to be none existant at the moment so im assuming they made some changes to the system
agree on vlad's comment! no queues right now! maybe many peeps are gone over xmas? but, if moving en mass would be an option at any time in the future I would vote for it, as Smilo is perfectly right, these things reoccur at each and every special moment in the game!
It's only that earlier today the server status page said 'full' and last night it was 'very heavy'. Then again these status pages have a habit of being pretty meaningless.
Had a litel 10 min 100 peps que last night when i loged in around 19.00Cet.
well the wait will be a little long today down time till 4pm gmt
I'm hoping this new patch will work on my install as no matter what I do the current download will not patch properly. Otherwise I'll be cap in hand for someone to dump their SWTOR directory on a USB stick for me to copy.

Patched it fine here, but won't be able to try it until later in the week. Shout if you need a hand Smilo.
