i had the same problem today
after sadako suggested this
QuoteI had a similar problem and I did this.

1. exit steam
2. delete the clientregistry.blob
3. restart steam and it should start updating

should do the trick DA

It was great to see so many guys on my server tonite. However, i think our little impromptu experiment taught us one thing...

...my server can't handle 12 peeps :(

maxplayers now set to 10.

PS BB enterprises were proud to be of service to the TCS community this evening. Hopefully you all found your frequent visitor vouchers under your seats so that your next visit will be half price. Yes, thats right ! Two headshots for the price of one :)

Cheers guys,

twas fun

i still have that ping problem.

Does someone know how to solve it or is it just steam to wait for them to fix it?

I closed down CS on my server last night to apply the maxplayers change. When I restarted it it downloaded another small game update even though I already got wednesdays.

Might be worth a shutdown restart to see if that clears it?

PS At the moment my desktop client is downloading DoD so things may be slow if everyone is doing that?

HTH?

What I thought was odd was that all 3 servers did it and it wasn't limited to just one.

I note on Steams site that Linux servers auto restart after patches but windows has to be manually restarted. That could explain why I got a patch this morning when I restarted - it didn't restart automatically after the last patch. Was there anything in the logs to show if the servers restarted during the night if a patch was issued? They would have auto restarted and would now appear "OK" one would hope.

Correct. You have to have -autoupdate as a parameter in the startup.

All our servers do.

MH is still FUBAR. Been idling on MH but got kicked off due to "Connection Problems".

On Homer now to check.

Something seems really broke right now, I'm guessing it's Steam. I'm sick of dropping all the time so have fun and goodnight. Let's see if they can get their fingers out over at Valve for tomorrow?

I'm going to take all three servers down, reinstall MH afresh and restart MH only.

If you see MH up please join to test. Thanx.

Yes unfortunately most of these problems are caused by steams wednesday updates which then have to be sorted out.

I tried to tell as many as possible last night. It is a CLIENT issue not a server issue and OB and I confirmed it.

OB had the following situation:
1. Steam Updated - Yay!
2. Server list doesn't refresh
3. Trying to connect to any of our dMw Servers causes them to crash.

I suggested the following:

1. Shut down steam
2. Delete the ClientRegistry.blob
3. Restart Steam and it should start updating.

OB did that and then tried to connect and was successful.

The give aways are

1. You can't connect to a server e.g. Meat Hook
2. Serverlist does not refresh

He sure did.  Via sv_alltalk on Aztec if I remember rightly.

The second time MH crashed after Sadako's announcement, I quit Steam, deleted the ClientRegistery.blob file, and restarted Steam again to get it to update itself.  Just in case it was me...

Blunt and I eventually ended up in a 1 vs 1 game (everyone else probably got fed up by this point).  We think it was Liberator who kept crashing the server, as his was the last name we both kept seeing in the Spectators list before MH died.  Is there some way to check the server logs to confirm this?

Apologies Liberator if it wasn't you causing the crashes.  Just trying to help resolve this problem.

I was monitoring the server via HLSW and I saw it to be Argonaute.

Hopefully, when I've updated the servers today, the problem (until next Wednesday) will be history.  :eyebrow:

Yesterday i learnt that i really can't drive any of the cars in live for speed, oh and TeaLeaf is a thug behind the wheel.  ^_^

All three servers are now updated.

That took over three hours to achieve.

If you want to see the effect of releasing a major upgrade to the CS servers on the day before a US National holiday, go read some of the posts in the Steam forum.

Oh and don't bother looking for you favourite WC3 server. They're all broke.

Which is so annoying as I had just found a belter!!!

One of the Boomtown servers. They are Swiss based I think, usually nice and stable and they run a huge number of different servers. It appears that steam has fubared adminmod and amx, I believe Oldie mentioned this elsewhere.
