Title: BF3 Server renewal with Killer Creation
Post by: TeaLeaf on January 23, 2012, 08:02:48 AM
Renewal time folks, I have just receicved a reminder that the renewal of our 64 slot server is due in 7 days.    The initial cost was £177 for 3 months of debranded 64 slot goodness.

Please can I have confirmation of the terms on which you want to renew?   I assume from current server settings you'll want less than 64 slots?

Renewal please..

I'm not sure about the reduction in slots. We seem to have a good thing going with the current configuration. I'm wonding if we should leave it as it for the next 3 months.

What do the rest of the admins think?

Dan

Now that our server config is "public" we're filling up 32 slots easy, so 64 would be preferable - however I am concious that cost is a factor. is 32 slots significantly cheaper?

Renewal time again folks, I have just received a reminder that the renewal of our 64 slot server is due in 4 days whilst we're at the LAN, so we need some quick feedback on this please.

Cost: £173.99 for 3 months of debranded 64 slot BF3.

In the last month we have not seen 64 players on the server, ever.  On one night we reached about 60, but we've had less than 32 players on all other nights. So, as this is a not insignificant sum of community cash (£700 pa), do we need a 64 slot server?   If not then what's the appropriate size?  What should be renewed please?

I think we should drop to 32 slots.  We are not getting the support of our own players enough to warrant the expense.

Also, quick match works on the basis of sending player to server which are already fuller.  So, if we drop to 32 this might give us more traffic (as our server will be fuller as a percentage).

We can then review in 3 months.

I would prefer 32 slots aswell.

Renewal is due again.  Â£91.04 for 3 months if we renew from 28/7.

Question for you all:  is this worth renewing?
As far as I can tell from Gametracker we've only had one night in the past month where we've had more than 8 people online and only 3 nights in the last month where we've had more than 2 people online.

We have no problems paying if it is wanted, but it does not seem to be used at the moment, possibly because people are playing elsewhere or waiting for BF4?

HI TL,

My preference is to keep it. I think with the good weather recently, the server is struggling as the regulars are outside enjoying it while it lasts.

Also, the goal is to convert to a bf4 server in due course. If BF4 doesn't take off, I insist that we pack it in and look for a new game to support.

Thanks to you and dMw for your continued support.

Renewal is due again.  Â£91.04 for 3 months if we renew from 28/10.

Given the move to BF4 on 29/10 are we bothering renewing this?  And on that note, Ninja can you let me know your preferred provider for the BF4 server please and we'll get it sorted out for launch day.

Many thanks :)

My opinion is no, we don't renew. We don't have many players on our BF3 server and apart from Friday nights, not enough regulars to seed the server.

Being as there is only a day or two from the BF3 server expiry to the BF4 launch, switching games and servers seems the logical step.
