Seems to be a more involved space game than BSGO but with more of a piloting twist than SWTOR.

oooh, nice. Cheers for the link, will keep an eye on this one. Having some fun in STO for now, though ground combat is still a bit sucky the space combat is good fun and there's plenty of other content to explore for now :)

Yeah I'm stuck between the two, I'm User: Al-Bert in STO. I like the feel of STO to be honest, I manage to navigate on the ground better than SWTOR on the few times I tried it and I liked the space battles I tried.

From a look around their site, this looks pretty good. We can actually run our own persistant universe as well from a free stand alone server download.

Quote from: Evochron siteThe server program lets a host manage a multiplayer game without having to run the
entire game and can save player-built stations as part of the server's unique universe.

Important: Any time you update the server program, always make sure to back up your
text2.dat file -before- installing the update. You can simply open the file in notepad before running
the installer, run the installer, then save the file. Or you can copy it to another location,
run the installer, then restore the file from the backup location. This will preserve your
settings since the installer will put the original default file back in place.

The default configuration of the program is for Direct IP and LAN sessions. If you are
interested in running a long term publically listed server, contact SW3DG by e-mail (http://www.starwraith.com/main/contact.htm) with your
text2.dat file (configured and tested via direct IP) for details on using the
listing system and adding your server.

Only a 2.5meg server download.

And it's on Steam as well (http://store.steampowered.com/app/71000/), for those not wanting to stray from the warm embrace of Valves content manager.

Lets just hope there are not too many human spawn campers who ruin it for everyone else.

I had a few hours playing it today and some things I feel are worth mentioning:

1) Ship control and dynamics are more simulation than BSGO or STO and so far I have used the cockpit view only. Not anywhere near the level where the game is unplayable. Far from it actually as the ship control is more versatile.
2) You have a far more varied set of contracts and missions as well as free form play.
3) The graphics are smooth in terms of performance, not as advanced as BSGO but still nice.
4) You can go into planet level and fly around anywhere you like. You dock manually but to the point where you get close enough to the docking point and the tractor beam brings you in.
5) Open trading and such like are a standard thing.
6) Distress calls come along and you can respond and earn a lot of credits.
7) You can do all this either single player or multilayer, there seems to be no distinction.
8) An internet connection is required to play.
9 I bought the game from the developer web site for a few £ cheaper than Valve, it updates when the game launches anyway.

I'll give is more time and if anyone else fancies trying give me a shout.

Cheers,

Bert
