In other online games, you could hear some1 running next to you or behind you. For some reason, in BF3 I cant.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or do you hear fellow players walking by you?
Nope for some reason your own footsteps are as loud as any gun but those around you are stealthy ninja like assassins :/
if you have decent headphones you can, ive been camping in a corner and knew an enemy was coming by the footsteps in bf3
Thought you was talking about the pop band :(
Could you be using 5.1 speaker setup on ya card .... but only have normal headphones ?
I can hear them, but they are easily drowned out. Guess that is about right though... gunfire sure is loud :)
Get yourself on red orchestra, you can definatly hear footsteps :P ....only joking
I had to mess around with my sound settings a little when I first got the game, I just did trial and error to see what worked

RO2 has quite strange sounds compared to other games I play, you can hear yourself moving even when you simply turn your body.
I'd recommend it if you like sounds :P
QuoteWhy can't I hear steps?
Because Claire and H left the group in 2001 maybe? (and no, I didn't know that - I looked it up on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steps_(group)#2001.E2.80.9302:_Gold_and_Split)....)
But seriously, as I understand it BF3 has a multi-track sound mixing system with layers of sound. The "gunfire" layer and "footsteps" layer are the same, so that you can't hear boots tromping in a firefight, to be realistic.
Try standing somewhere quiet like the empty stalls in the side corridor of Grand Bazzar between B and C and see if you hear other players running past.

1) Had to laugh at this.
2) Don't try it on Seine in an alleyway. Unless you like cats...
