Title: The road ahead for DICE - beware the bridge is out!
Post by: ArithonUK on February 07, 2012, 09:00:20 AM
In an article for industry gamer (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ea-praises-call-of-duty-elite-battlefield-subscription-next/), EA's CEO John Riccitiello praises Activision for adding the subscription model to FPS games with COD Elite.

This is a clear warning that they (EA) are considering this for BattleField. In light of the ****-poor patches, the plethora of essentially useless mods and good mods nerfed-to-death and the overall instability (crashed lately?), bad design (VOIP tied to friends list?), the idea of PAYING to use the sheer awfulness of Battlelog causes the gorge to rise in my throat.

DICE and EA owe us, the paying customers, to fix the game they sold us to work as advertised. Some optimisation wouldn't go amiss either, since the game runs like a dog on some systems, and it isn't the hardware at fault.

I suspect Dice is hard at work doing as much patching as EA will finance for them, but after all, EA already has your cash. All they have to do is to keep you hoping the game will work. They'll never fix it completely though, because then you would keep playing instead of buying their next one.

We should file a complaint against them, since our laws are stricter on this kind of stuff, Faust.

I could live with that. Make a proper product or go home.

If you can't blow up buildings and walls, it's not worth playing.

I loved CS Alpha and Beta. I also thought Windows 95 was awesome when it came out. Progress have made some things obsolete though, thank *insert imaginary friend* :narnar:

I'm in for that. But then I barely have time for the game as it is. My Friday game nights seem to be cursed! I spend more time in Procon then I actually play the game ^^

No I meant that Valve won't shaft the consumer with a buggy game and buggier patches, overpriced DLC and a publisher without a clue about PC gaming :sideways:

Half-Life 2 shipped with more bugs than Klendathu, it's a problem across every PC developer as the range of hardware you can test your product on before shipping is always limited.

Valve got their s**t together and patched the Source engine eventually, but I remember the Steam forum rage well. Let's not pretend they're saints.

Most recently my game window just dissapears, but task manager shows the game as still running. Then after a few minutes I drop from the server I was on and I have to end the game process and re-launch. It gets old real fast.

Other then that my main issue is RL seems to throw something new at me every Friday night.
