Title: The Republic
Post by: Sindri on February 12, 2012, 12:33:23 AM
I am curious.  Now i know making the guild on the republic side of the server splits numbers and isn't exactly doable, but my Jugg is at the 2nd tier of gear (currently in the game) out of 3 and soon should have the 3rd (hopefully :) ).  I have got another level 50 on the empire but do not wish to gear him currently and have made a sniper alt but have given up at level 25 for the time being as it's all the same quests etc that i have just done not too long ago.  My smuggler however is at level 17 and I'm having a lot of fun levelling him and experiencing the class mirrors on the republic side.  I plan to get him to 50 as the quests are new, there are some new republic only flashpoints available and he is generally a lot of fun to play as it is a change from the empire perspective.  Now obviously i want to take him on ops runs etc once he is 50 but joining another guild isn't exactly what i'm looking to do and all the republic guilds are looking for dedicated players, sign up on forums etc.  I know a few of us currently have republic alts and have taken an interest in playing republic as a break from empire characters while we wait for the next ops night, or weekly quests to reset etc.  Are we going to touch the republic side at all or have a group of people willing to ply them and take them on ops runs at 50  or so forth?

Your thoughts please :)

Personally i think we should keep it the way it is, otherwise we may cause splitting the guild up and causing a lot more headaches for the officers.

I think at a push we could make a guild but just for social reasons, and making ops nights would just be too much imo.

What i mean is for players like myself who want to play a bit of the republic side now and then since they are half of the game technically speaking :p.

Pretty sure there was already a thread about this, but basically I support DA's view.

I can see an argument for running a second guild. It would be nice to group up with other dMw players who are playing a Republican character for Heroics and Flashpoints. I think the Operations are identical for both factions?

I have the same concerns though. I've been in two MMO guilds that tried to run mirror guilds on each opposing faction and both times it didn't work out and both guilds eventually folded as the players split up, there just weren't enough on either side to make the guilds viable.. There is always the Team Speak channel to use and we could set up a republican channel so players can at least find each other and group up for quests etc.

At a push we could create a guild just for the guild chat and to see who is on line but I do think trying anything more would be a mistake.

I personally think that setting up a Republic Guild will be a mistake.  It will split the players we have making it hard for the OP groups that we have, it will really weaken the social side of this guild less people on talking or helping others level up those kind of things.

Also the amount of work to keep it going and sort out any issues, is too much.

But I will bring this up with The Dark Council and get back to you.

That's why I'd like to have one.  As long as it's made clear up front that it's a Social guild only, I don't see an issue with it.

Agreed, as Sindri said, we cant really afford to mix with another guild as they will expect commitment to there OP's etc and obviously that wouldnt be possible due to being signed for our current empire runs, so a social DMW republic guild would be ideal to let people's Republic characters progress, have conversation etc.

I'm not sure if there would be a whole lot of chat on a Republic dMw Guild Chat channel? There isn't a great deal on the Imperial Guild chat. While I'm still worried about splitting ourselves across two guilds I like the idea of a way to see who is playing on the Republic side, what level they are and what planet they are on etc. It would make grouping for quests and heroics easier. There is always the 'friends' feature as well which we could use.

Also there's a one click mute facility on Team Speak which I use as and when I'm seeing a cut scene, so TS works quite well in SWTOR. Makes the game a much more social and friendly IMHO.
