We are releasing a minor PC update that aims to improve general performance and stability and solve some reproducible crash issues. The update also includes support for the upcoming Intel "Ivy Bridge" product line and performance improvements on AMD Radeon 7xxx series graphics cards .
List of issues fixed:
Support for Intel's new Ivy Bridge product line (as yet unreleased)
Fixes for two reproducible client crashes:
Oilfields- Conquest Large â€" Fixed a client crash when users spawn in certain vehicles.
Canals - Rush â€" Fixed a client crash at the 2nd set of mcoms if the player drives a vehicle into the vicinity of the exploding rocket battery.
AMD Radeon 7xxx series performance improvements
This minor fix is releasing on the 14th February, 8AM UT. This download will be via Origin.
We would also like to inform the community that we have several ongoing developments with regards to balance and gameplay, performance, stability and the overall feature set that will be announced in the coming weeks.
If anything good comes of those 'ongoing developments with regards to stability', I'll cut off my index fingers and eat them.
NOTICE We are aware of the issue following today´s patch. We are working on resolving this as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!
Seems alot of people are getting kicked by PB aswell.
As there is again a problem with restriction kicks, the best solution is to simply disable restriction kicks for the moment.
This can be done on separate ways:
a) change pb_sv_restrictions from 1 or 2 to 0 in your pbsv.cfg
or
b) open the PB console (e.g. in procon) and send the command pb_sv_restrictions 0 to the server
This disables kicking for restrictions.
You can change it back when the issue is solved.
0 does not kick for any restrictions
1 kicks for general restrictions
2 kicks for the usage of macros
After the most recent Battlefield 3 PC patch, some players have reported being unable to play Battlefield 3 online at all as they receive the PunkBuster error below:
To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:
- Download and install the PBSVC program from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe
- Open the program and Uninstall PunkBuster
- This will clear any older versions of PunkBuster that may be experiencing an issue
- After uninstalling the program, download and run PBSetup from http://evenbalance.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php
- Once downloaded, open PBSetup and select Add a Game and add Battlefield 3 from the available list.
- After adding Battlefield 3, click Check for Updates until you receive a message stating No New Updates Needed.
- This may take several updates depending on the game and version of PunkBuster.
I have the same problem but the above doesn't fix it. I can't connect to any server. Just tries to connect and then fails.

This sounds like a different problem....
I logged into battlelog and updated bf3 via game manager which opened origin and it downloaded the patch and installed without any problems

Ah I see. Thanks. I hadn't even downloaded it. Us pathetic console gamers expect it all done for us auto magically.
No problems with the update for me. I did get a BSOD tonight, but I'm pretty sure something in my system is on the way out in a way unrelated to BF3 :P
worked a treat for me. no probs.
