Post by: Knabbel on February 22, 2012, 08:46:07 PM
Hi there, Daedalus here... (TL feel free to move this thread to the correct content of the forum).....

I was wandering if DmR was going into Diablo 3? And if so... I want to be there first second when DmR goes into Diablo 3..

Raid on!!!!!

Hope to hear something.

Greets,

D.

I'm definetly grabbing Diablo 3. I've had my CE preordered for a few months now and will be there ready and rolling from (hopefully) the first day :-) Got all my characters' names figured and everything.

But I don't think there's any kind of guild/clan structure in the game is there? There's also not much team/tactical gaming with a competitive/progress element in it. I think this is a precondition for DMR to form a section out of it, if that's what you mean. But someone higher up the ladder would have to confirm that thought, heh.

That of course doesn't mean we can't play together at all :-) As it works via Battle.Net ID like any other Blizzard game, feel free to add me when it goes live!

My Battletag (once it goes live, hopefully before D3 launch): Azunai #2245
Otherwise my RealID: bobbalm88 (at) gmail (dot) com

Azunai, I would love to see you in game.... just as well I want to see old SoG or DmR members.... so we probably all should sign in to one server. From what I have read tonight is that all content is available to a solo toon. So that means that all content can be experienced alone....

About team gaming.. I didn't read about forming guilds or groups from the official pages. From my point of view I just want to level up (or experience the game ) with people I know.... Group up with people I know I can count on etc...  I learned from WoW that you better have the right people in your group then the group that thinks its the right group.

My toons will be (if I am fast enough).. Daedalus (Monk), Treasa (Warrior), Aelas (Demon Hunter), Aelae (Wizard) and possibly a toon called Slash (because Gijs will have a toon called Hack.... :P)..
Title: Diablo 3
Post by: Azunai on February 22, 2012, 10:32:17 PM
Haha, Hack & Slash, that would be awesome! Ah yes, servers... I thought it was region based (EU, NA, etc.) and you don't join a server, you just start a 'game' and others can join you via RealID, pretty much like Diablo 2. Could be wrong, but I think that's how the social thing is built up.

I'll be on (likewise, provided I'm fast enough):

Torgen (Barb), Garrit (Monk), Azunai (Demon Hunter), Mystraven (Wizard) and Origyn (Witchdoctor), with the Monk being the main toon probably.
Title: Diablo 3
Post by: Switchback on February 23, 2012, 01:10:10 AM
Its gona be based as Torgen says and from the forums....You can join a game with You me Tl and Torg and we can go round and kill mobs and gear up quicler...but there will be no "guild" side of things...

It will be just tapping up people who are on....If many peeps are on then mabey a channel in TS could be set up (if not too much trouble) then we could grp up....

Nice to read.... got the collectors edition pre-ordered..I hope I get it....

Teaming up with guildies makes it so much easier.. I am a diablo fan from day 1..... played D2 many many times with Gijs.....

I think of Diablo 3 as a WoW light version hope to see some group quests.

My main probably will be Monk, then Barbarian and possible a wizard...

Day one claiming ingame names a.s.a.p :P

And another update: Those who want to earn some nice sigils for their banners ingame, Blizzard is hosting a mini-site promotional thing, featuring one class each week. You can make a banner for that class, and if you enter your account details, the class sigil will be added to your collection upon launch. You can't get these sigils by any other means so if you want to grab them, make sure you enter each week :-) Current one only has 2 days left!

QuoteWe’re inviting you to join us for the launch of Diablo III! In addition to local retail shops’ midnight launches, we’re holding a number of demonically charged worldwide launch events in major cities where you can join Blizzard to celebrate the release of Diablo III and pick up your copy of the game. Each event will have its own activities, giveaways, and contests, so see the press release for further details and be sure to check the launch event site for more info on the one nearest you.
Diablo III Launch Events (http://eu.blizzard.com/en-gb/company/events/d3-opening/)

Whether you’re attending a launch event, grabbing the game at a local store, or waiting patiently at home for your digital version (https://eu.battle.net/account/activation/landing.html?product=D3) to unlock, you’ll want to be ready to jump in right when the servers open. For the European region, the game servers will go live at 00:01 CEST on May 15. As a reminder to our Russian players, the Russian-language version of the game will be available digitally and at retail starting June 7.
Don’t forget to create your BattleTag â€" it’s important to do so now if you haven’t already (https://www.battle.net/account/management/battletag-create.html), as it’sREQUIRED TO PLAY DIABLO III. Also note that if you’d like to receive a digital copy of Diablo III free, there are still a few days left to sign up for the World of Warcraft Annual Pass (http://eu.media.blizzard.com/wow/promotion/wap/en-gb.html).
We hope to see you at one of our Diablo III launch events, and we look forward to seeing you in-game on May 15!

Blizzard Entertainment teamed up with renowned director Peter Chung and acclaimed animation studio Titmouse to create this unique vision of a fundamental moment in the battle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.

You'll come around ;-)

For those who were late to the party the first time around, all five class sigils are available for now until the end of next week. You can put these sigils on your ingame banner which is used to represent your character and its progress in the game and on your profile: http://reveal.diablo3.com/en_US/mark_of_valor

Also, as the midnight release approaches rapidly (can't believe it's less than a week now, superstoked!), who here are going to play right off the bat? I was hoping to jump right into the game with 3 fellow DMR folks (max per game is 4 players)... :-)

I will play right away starting after work on the 15th. I have work 15th and 16th so will only be playing from 16:30-23:00 CET those days while I have the day off on 17th and 18th so 17th-20th I will be playing most of the day. I will most likely be wanting to finish normal alone just for the story and the fact that I generally run fast through games like this. But will be available for grouping after that( hoping to finish normal on 16th).

Can't remember the exact battletag at the moment and the site is down for maintanance but it is JanuZ#somenumber, will post full later.

I am fine with talking about the game, I am not fine with people one act in front of everyone else talking about the story. Talking about class skills, gear, how to level and such is fine. Besides I mention this mostly for others since I am expecting to finish Normal Tomorrow or few hours after work on 16th, depending on how much I bother reading chat with NPCs.

BTW game installed and intro watched. Just a reminder to people to change the region in the options before logging in tomorrow.

How many acts are there? Based on how long each act is taking you, how many hours of gameplay would you estimate there are?
Title: Diablo 3
Post by: JanuZ on May 16, 2012, 09:52:58 AM
There are 4 acts, but after finishing it on normal, you have to do it on nightmare, then Hell and then Inferno.
you get to about level 35 when finishing Normal, 50-55 in Nightmare 60 in Hell and then Inferno is more like raid content for max level.

I played about 7 hours 30minutes yesterday, so just over 3 hours per act. Should be able to finish Normal and maybe Act1 Nightmare today. I expect that I can keep about the same pace through Nightmare and then slightly slower in Hell. Blizzard has reported that they expect it to take months to finish Inferno because you will need to do some extra playing in Hell just to get the gear to survive Act1. There are 3 Tiers of gear available in Inferno.
I think a more normal play time will be about 4-5 hours per act with some people going up to 6-7. I just play through the quests. I go into every extra cave I see, but I don't explore much extra and I take an exit to next level as soon as I see it to avoid backtracking. I do listen to quests though I sometimes click through it if I have finished reading the text before the NPCs finish talking.
Title: Diablo 3
Post by: Gunnzie on May 16, 2012, 10:21:31 AM
But the higher levels are just playing the same game through again but at a higher difficulty are they not? Or is it different environments?
Title: Diablo 3
Post by: JanuZ on May 16, 2012, 10:30:15 AM
same story, though the layout is random and there should be new abilities, at least on the random boss packs. If it is anything like Diablo 2 it will also be multiple abilities on packs in later difficulties. Also there are alot of random events that don't spawn on every playthrough, for example in the beta there were 2 events that could spawn in the Crypts but it was random if they spawned or not.

Personally I don't really consider the game starting until later difficulties, Diablo type games have seldom been about the story and more about challenge, replayability and items. Though I have been impressed with the story so far.

Quote from: Gunnzie;350928But the higher levels are just playing the same game through again but at a higher difficulty are they not? Or is it different environments?

Consider normal difficulty the tutorial/lore briefing and Nightmare a good first taste. Hell and Inferno is where it's at, both in terms of challenge and decent items :-)

Also, yes, Blue and yellow mobs will have 1 extra ability per difficulty lvl. So 4 on Inferno! And already in Nightmare they can be a right pita.

You can say that again. I am fighting a Yellow Dune stinger ( those that spit poison wasps ) with Waller Frozen and right beside him was a blue group of same mob with illusionist and jailer. Had a purple close by with Molten.

I feel I need to point out that Diablo 3 seems to default tothe US servers. Please make sure you change it to EU servers in the game options or you;re gonna have a bad time.

Quick note (since apparently so many people don't know about this, according to forums): Remember to turn ON Elective mode. It lets you put any skill anywhere on your bars, rather than being restricted to the categories made by Blizzard. So not only can you choose which skill goes where, it also allows you to have multiple skills of the same category on your bars at once. Kind of a no-brainer, especially for those who are used to WoW, and arguably this should be on by default, but just figured I'd mention it :-)

In the same vein, turn on Advanced Tooltips to see the exact damage numbers on skills rather than just a general description.

an exploit was discovered by duplicating a session ID
basically, if you join a public game with people, they can view your session ID and spoof it to login as you without need for a password or email or anyting
if you play with people, try not to play in public games bro, only with people you know
