I would count this as an exploit more than a glitch but it amounts to much the same thing and i agree with what Ninja has said.
However, how are we to deal with exploits? How about using a heli (the enemy has none) purely for transport to a location the enemy team has no chance of getting to and very little chance of killing you from?
We saw this done in BC2 and i know it annoyed the hell out of ppl and in some instances admin powers were deployed. I don't recall any dMw member using these types of exploits and i for one do not intend to start.
I ask because i'm starting to see this happen more and more on our server, sometimes by dMw members.
Half of me thinks it's bad & people that do things like that shouldn't be on our servers & the other half thinks that if it's do-able within the realms of the game without cheating/hax w/ever then how are we to call it wrong?
At best can we only discourage playing that way & encourage playing the game in the dMw way?
Use of glitches or exploits is completely unacceptable and should always be frowned upon.
If I see an admin doing it they get one warning and then they lose their status. Why? Because as admins I expect you to set a good example all of the time. Use of glitches / exploits hardly sets that example.
dMw members on the whole should know better. All it does is result in retaliation or replication from publics or other members. Two wrongs do not make a right. I would suggest that the offending person be advised that what they are doing is taking advantage of a glitch or exploit and they should politely be asked to refrain from doing it again. If it continues we discuss and agree to implement a new rule to address the situation.
Like you, I loath having to monitor rules that only serve to make our jobs more difficult. Especially when common sense should prevail.
I welcome your thoughts and suggestions in this regard.
I only know of two bugs/expliots/glitches in the game 1. where you can get into a wall/roof on metro and shoot but can be seen or shot (very hard to tell who is doing it unless someone says/see's on killcam.
2. MAV riding /elevator which is soon to be stopped via patch.
Other than that i dont know of any, with regards of what twobad is saying i agree with someone uses a chopper to drop out onto a stupidly high cliff where it's near impossbile to get shot is surely wrong.
anyone remember Noshahr Canals when we had it on rush? people getting out of heli ontop of a glass roof where u cant shoot them as the bullets dont go through the glass.
