Back when we had old CRT monitor's I noticed that pubs etc that watched the same channels all the time ended up with image burn.
The images of say the sky sports or channel hallmark being burnt into the screen so when other channels were shown.
I am beginning to watch alot of sky channels both on TV and online especially sky sports through sky go and wondered whether this is the same for modern screens?
Should I be worried about watching it at length?
My maximum watches are up to five hour sessions.
Any ideas?
I thought image burns were only on rear projection screens? i watch a hell of alot of Sky Sports, mainly on my pc too and have had no problems. Im pretty sure this day and age image burning is no longer an issue
You get image burn/retention on plasmas aswell as old crt's don't you? the tv we have in the canteen at work has bbc news 24 on all the time & you can see the news headline ticker that goes along the bottom even when it's not there.
Google suggests not to worry & just watch something else for a while is you get worried about image retention, I think to actually damage the screen permanently would take more than what your throwing at it - i.e. our work tv - same channel all day long.

On Our 50" Plasma tv downstairs we get the virgin menu image burn on the tv after it's turned on if the menu has been left on the tv overnight (while the tv itself is off) this is the only case i've come up with in regards to modern tv.
Old plasma, burn was a risk. Newer plasma, these generally have anti burn technology so it's less of a risk but still possible. LED/LCD no risk of image burn at all.
ive got a fairly new plasma (2 years), and burnin is not an issue, i can make a slight burnin, i made it by keeping my tv on with the XBMC menu showing for 3 days straight, 24/7 (a bit expensive in power yess, but i wanted to test it! :P ) but 3-4 seconds after i put on a movie is was washed away, panasonic also has a "wash" video sequence on their website that can handle it, at least it had back when i bought the tv (2 years ago)
