Title: EA BattleLog Application for iOS - review
Post by: ArithonUK on April 17, 2012, 03:14:45 PM
Today EA released the much pimped, but previously unseen EA BattleLog App for iOS (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ea-battlelog/id505311207?mt=8). Which (in a shock move for EA) is free on iTunes.

The iOS App is a clone of the BattleLog browser application that launches Origin, to launch BF3 (lots of launching).

You can view your status page and post updates, such as "Where's the BattleField commander?", or if playing the new "close-combat" DLC "Where's the BattleField.."

You can use the App to chat to other people who are also at the desktop/browser (i.e. not playing the game) when Origin and EA are both up. It happens. No, really.

You can review your player statistics, and like me, lament your terrible K/D Ratio and really low head-shot distance (200m).

More usefully, you can view coming unlocks and decide which weapon load-outs to use to advance your kits. Since you can use this without ALT-TAB-ing into a game crash, this could have definite potential.

The "More" button on the menu links to some extra features, including a player search for checking out those suspect high-scoring players and a set of help pages. The "More" also links to an RSS news feed taken from the EA BattleField Blog. News or propaganda? You decide....

Finally the last feature, is a game leader board which lists the scores of all your friends (Yey! I'm in the top 10) and the complete list of players (I'm not in the top, well, I couldn't find me, it was that far down).

Obviously this is a tongue-in-cheek review, and the iOS BattleLog App is a just copy of the features we already "enjoy" in the browser. But that said, it's a stable and FREE application and gives you access to these features on the go. Well worth a download if you are a regular player and have an iPod, iPad or iPhone. Did I mention it's free?
