Title: Patch 1.2 and custom gear
Post by: Vargen on April 18, 2012, 10:42:22 PM
Ok, so with the changes made to the crafting system, custom gear is now better than drops and sets if they are crit crafted. Giving them the same stats as the item you take the mods from, but with a custom look and added augment slot. For armor the armoring mod holds the set bonus and will bind to slot upon removal from an item. However the other mods you can swap around or replace altogether.

Example:

I am able to make custom helm, chest and legs for all 3 armor classes. Picture for reference:

Also, I can now make Strength, Willpower and Alacrity augments. Purple quality i.e. Advanced Might Augment 22 etc. If anyone wants different augments made I can see about reverse engineering my way up to purple quality if you provide me the schematic you want.

Have you testet it with set piece armoring? Cause someone said it was only for the new set/drops and not backwards compatable.

Hmmm, I have not yet tested it with my current set. Will do later today.

ok i have a quick question for you varg, these new item look great:P but do they have aby base stats at all? or just plain and waiting for the mod etc to be added? as i would not mind the heavy armor for my BH as i am leveling him up to 50, but before getting the mats for you just want some calrifaction on if they have base stats or not.

cheers

I'll reroll to armstech soon to boost the guild weapon-crit-wise. I was thinking of rerolling to armormech, but i've heard from Varg that a few people in our guild have that already.

Guess it's time to take the dust off from the crafting threads :)

The gear has no stats without mods in it. It only has a level requirement. Whatever you put in the mod slots will determine the stats and item level it becomes. The mods themselves may also have seperate level requirements. Seeing you were talking about leveling with this gear.

Do you want a crit craft one, or just a normal one? The crit craft ones are chance based ofc. Just give me a shout ingame later today :)

Ok, that may take making more than one of each, just so you know. If you want to just give me a bit extra of each mat I can cover the rest should I need many runs to get a set of crit items. Or you can cover the mats I actually use and sell off any non crit items yourself. Whatever you prefer :) I'll be on in a few hours I expect.

Confirmed that this does not go for the Rakata and below, but only for the new set in 1.2 patch. You can still do the saber and 1 armor item without losing the 4 set bonus though :)
