Title: MoP Preparation
Post by: TeaLeaf on July 30, 2012, 01:06:58 PM
So another expansion is announced and you've got 8 weeks to prepare for it.

If you've got a tip for MoP levelling then add it to this thread please!

Very good post
It will be launched as cata was so if you have the digital version as I do you can play from midnight.
There are problems with this, as you have to log out and then log in again. With thousands of others! I logged out at 12.05 am and got back on about 1.30am. This is wasted time! I'm planning to spend an hour doing dailies you will get xp and then the ques won't be as bad ( hopefully ). Then starts the MoP grind and I can't wait!
Can't agree more with what you have posted TL the only tip but most should carry them anyway..... Flasks, food, pots etc. get them al crafted and ready and lots of em.
Cata took me 32 hours of non stop gaming so this should take longer. So you want about a stack of flasks.
As TL says lvl proffs when you can but also stock up on things that will give you skill ups now. It will be hard to grind the new mats as so many will be doing it! And prices will be crazy!

If you are going for a straight grind without sleep to 90 my tips....
- butter up the other half, they will bring drinks and food.
- food and drink... Get lots in the fridge ready and easy cook meals. I lived off bacon sarnies redbull and beer lol
-if you have to, have a power nap just 30 mins will help

I'm going to see if i can grab a couple of holiday days off work, which should help me, and thank you both for the tips.  I'm definatley guilty of needing to empty out my bags and bank.

Right, I have just booked off 26th - 28th!!  I am totally up for trying the whole no sleep thing, being on ts and grouping up!!  I am a tailor so if anyone needs bags making then let me know!! MoP here we come!!!!!

*also* in terms of tips, grouping is an excellent idea since questing areas are busy and going in a group really helps with 'kill xxx number of mobs' when they are in demand!! So count me in for grouping up :)

most of my junk has been sent to my other guild, the banko del alt, aka my alt bank with 6 tabs, plenty of room for dumping crap... well it was until i sliced up a few thousand beasties, skinned them and looted them for cloth (First aid and LW skills).

Other than not know which days i`ll be going back to college for, i am about set :P

I`m also rolling a panda monk (tank) and will be seeing how it goes, i have a FULL set of heirloom items, weapons, armour, trinkets and we`ll have a huge exp boost, together with the guild perk, will make levelling very fast, as my last char quickly levelled up, it became somewhat difficult to both quest and instance, as a instance would almost give you 1 level per run, if not more depending on the size and how much trash you killed as a group.

As for material prices, they will go skyward and beyond for leather, remember monks wear leather, and there`s going to be an outbreak of them !
So it`s either time to save or time to make a killing on the AH, certain items needed in LW are a pain to grind for or hard to get(low drop rates) knowing where and how to source said items will be an advantage to you !

Also make some decently long play lists, as your going to glued to the pc chair for several hours in a row !

Plan you breaks(yes we do need to take a screen break), ensure you hydrate lots- beer does not count ! (ensure you have plenty)
Power levelling food will greatly assist you, use chocolate and one handed food (usually junk) for maximum benefit of multitasking, enabling you to both eat and slay at the same time!

Try not to kill yourself when levelling, literally, dying at the pc is not cool ! Enjoy the story line theme, and as TL said, join TS and have fun in groups if you can !

Emptying bags.... not done....
Getting days off, I wish, finishing up a project at work during those days....(talk about bad timing), hopefully I've done my work proper enough so I dont have to stay late...
But logging on to TS seems very good. Will do my best to empty bags and bank. Seems like a good start.

Just ordered the digital version. Also started clearing my bags, still need some work here

Also, I read this on some forum & it might be interesting: when leveling you kill alot of mobs -> there will always be some green BoE's that drop, so might be nice to send these to an enchanter in the guild so he/she can DE them to get a lot of mats quickly.

Anyway, just like TBC I'm really looking forward to MoP! (wasn't that excited with wotlk/cata tbh :))

I'll add one more - clear your quest logs!   If like me you had stuff hanging over from Cataclysm launch or completed quests from instances you never went back to, it might be time to hand them in or dump them!

Well with that TL can go two ways if you are speed levelling like I will be, a full log of dailies is good.
Get a 25 completed and ready to hand in. The 1st few hours is chaos for questing and when cata launched 1 quest line in hyjal actually bugged and yo needed to do it to get the "feeder" quest to the next lot of quests. It could happen again. So you can spend 30 mins handing in all these dailies rather than waiting in 1 position to tag a mob every 5 mins. Nice little boost for the exp. As I said prob better for a speed leveller like myself :p

Generally though that is a good plan to get rid of em all and it will destroy the quest items in your bag.

I still can't wait for the launch !!
