Title: PvP in MoP
Post by: Midd on September 05, 2012, 07:56:41 PM
Hi all,

First new thread in here and all, so please feel free to shoot me if I break some posting convention or something :P

Both myself and Jinx are new to the guild, friends of Milli and long time WoW players returning after a hiatus.

We're both avid pvpers as well as raiders, so I'd like to get an idea of who PvPs in guild and if anyone is looking for a 3s team for next season.  Comp is undecided at the moment, but has the following options:

Midd : Mage/Lock/Resto Druid/Holy Paladin - Leaning towards mage or druid for personal pref
Jinx : Monk/DK

Ideally we're looking for either a healer to go with mage and Monk/DK (so probably resto druid/shammy) or a DPS to go with DK/Monk and Resto Druid (ideally ranged, or cleave).  We both have experience around 2k, Hot Streak, Hotter Streak etc, and will be aiming to get as high as possible at the beginning of the season as no doubt the MMR will be as broken in MoP as it was in Cata :)

So there's a brief outline, anyone who's interested please fire away!

I'll probably look to do some social guild BGs, but arena is not my major interest tbh!    We have a fair few who do arena regularly though, so call on me for backup only please!

Im interested. Resto/Ele shaman.

It does not seem that resto is as powerful as in Cata, and the LvB insta-proc change has made Elemental a viable option for arenas.. still feeling like im missing defensive CDS. I dont know atm though, how or if it will be (level90 will change alot). Ill keep you posted, as I enjoy a good game of arena and I never really got properly started in Cata.

Im still looking at the viable comps etc but mage/dk and resto shammy/druid was and still looks like it will be a strong comp. The windshear nerf is a blow for shammy but i still think its strong.

What xp you guys got in arena?

How are shadow priests usually seen in Arena?   Are they better in the larger teams?

I'm up for casual pvp just unfortunate I haven't got the time for arena and not to mention I suck at it.

Either resto druid or resto shammy will both be viable with mage/dk.  In any good 3s team the healer is the lynch pin, calling targets and calling retreats based on cooldowns.  As Jinx said, what's your experience in terms of arena, and are you comfy with directing the fight?  It's all too easy as DPS to call targets and charge and then blame the healer when you get anihilated.  As a PvP healer I know how annoying that is!

SP's if played well ( so you will be ok then TL ) can and are a real pain in the arse. Team with a disc priest and the fears dots silences meh. Can slot into any of the brackets really.

@ Midd....my main and and highest rating is with the rogue and in 2's. I haven properly "arena'rd" with the dr00d but we can try ;)
