500k rdps. Nuff said.
We'll probably we starting with:
-2 tanks, 3 heals, 5 dps
-legs left to Guru & Ammon for cleave (we'll see how that goes and add dps only if required)
-rest of dps on body
-pheromone kiting by ranged dps (number in rotation to be decided by experimentation, start with e.g. 15 stacks and see how it goes)
I'm not sure what was to be gained by having people nuke the main body of the boss directly.
the boss loses more when a leg is blasted off, we really need all the dps focused there from the get go as legs were being replaced as fast as me and guru were killing them.
I don't think we're set on anything at the moment Ammon, it was largely initial pulls to get the kiting sorted which I think we are starting to do (subject to below). The reason they were on body was generally:
-on the one try when we all focused legs the legs went down very quickly which made ramping up of my the dps almost not worth it (at least this was what I saw from my perspective). I see multi-dot as highly viable, but it was much more tricky to load a full amount of dots on all the legs and keep moving to diff leg buffs. Perhaps though this is simply me not being used to it, I only had 1 real try in that role.
-the dps buff only works for that specific leg, so there is little difference between hitting the body or one of the other 3 legs unless you travel to the new leg
-the reason melee on legs is for cleave damage, well over 100k+ dps is possible from a rogue/warrior on his fight
-we probably should focus on the legs initially to get the slowing debuff stacked to 4 as rapidly as possible so that we get the slowest kite speed as fast as possible.
-as I am led to believe, once we get the hang of this fight we would not have enough legs to all dps anyway (we kill them faster than they mend), hence some dps remaining on the boss. For most tries last night we had only 1 person on the boss full time, so it is not a massive change either way to adjust the targets.
Agreed re melee on the rear legs. We should prio melee dps to rear 2 legs, ranged can handle front left, tanks can handle front right or front left.
Re the kiting:
Thinking this through I am reading more and more that hunters should be involved here, so Hubbah should definitely be one kiter.
Is there any reason why we can't use our 2 tanks to kite too? This might allow us a much simpler rotation of say Tank-Tank-Healer-Hubbah-Healer (rinse & repeat). With 5 in the rotation we have no issue with overlap and it allows us to space our healer movement out so that they also do not overlap (although this could also be done with a 4 man rotation). Lower stacks of the debuff also means lower raid AOE damage is taken, but more transfers of Pheromones means more Crush, so that's a counter argument to take 4.
Consideration should be given to Ammon taking up a tank slot, allowing one of the tanks to go DPS spec, thus easing the enrage timer.
Quote from: Icy VeinsIt is possible to have two Rogues tanking Garalon instead of two actual tanks. The Rogues can survive Furious Swipes each time by using Feint to mitigate the damage. Additionally, the Rogues can use the Elusiveness talent, and the Glyph of Feint, both of which provide some nice perks for this strategy.
More reading in progress, lots more to be posted I guess!

Enrage timer. Its gonna be tight on this boss.
3% of the boss health /leg .... 33 leg kills (seems a lot)... so the question is can we do more than 6.54 mil to the body in the time it takes to get a leg down or will we run out of legs
218 mil boss health... each leg down = 6.54mil but with a 100% dps buff we should find we run out of legs (normal mode they spawn more often).
Regards healing....... Ranged following Guru/Amon putting healz down in the buff zone works well. when we have no legs bunch in the middle (the boss will be kited round the edge)
Didn't get much time to look at tank and kite damage as i had problems with range from the back legs. If we get the boss as tight as possible to the wall we should be able to keep range
We had 6 hard enrage wipes at 7:04 mins with under 10% left on the boss.
We had 3 wipes at 3%.
We just need to eek out a smidgen more dps and a little better survivability please next week , plus we'll have better gear from another good run through MV.
Our current 3-healer tactic is solid, but if we have to do so we'll try 2 healing it and burn it down super fast.
When its time to blast the tar out of the boss later on, i wondered the merits of me continuing to nuke legs that are at 50% or less, since i still do boss damage as standard plus the 3% off when the leg dies to boot.
Guru was able to readilly boss nuke due to executing it, which results in a huge dps boost, my rogue however has nothing like that.
Aye rogues are a special case and you could keep on the legs, it's a win win with your duplicate damage.

The 5.05 hotfix (12th of nov) nerfed this alot for both warriors and rogues.

Not as OP'ed as it used to be.
Aye but we're not talking about the buff, just rogue abilities.
Minor adjustments needed?
1. Healers kite more? Preferably at the end of the fight, but 1 tank and 3 healers kiting all the time must be more optional regarding enrage.
2. 1 tank + 1 plate dps soaking
From forum i read agere someone Else hit enrage:
As for the '1 tank, 1 melee DPS' taking swipes: totally doable, and recommended if you're low on DPS. I'll be honest, you look like you are. Easily done too, provided it's a plate DPS of course.
Edit: as you probably understand im suggesting hal goes retri. Then no change in kiting would be needed. Or Get 1 more ranged in and guru can soak, but this might lower the dps..

Think we can scratch that. He can soak and cleave infont and his dps should not suffer too hard.

"We" who are you talking about mate?
4 legs and 3 of them CAN be dps'ed most of the times and you want me to soak.
Ok that's awesome strategy.
Nope he's getting confused. We're talking about having Hal go ret if dps is a little tight as a plate wearer can soak reasonably effectively in dps gear. I strongly doubt he had thought through the 'dps from in front' bit! :P

Why not? Need to stay in "soaking area" when the strike hits (unless we dont have a timer for this), rest of the time stay in "weakened spot area".
Guru; Please elaborate your point of view. And yes, I was talking about you :-)
If im missing something here, I am probably not the only raid member that is. So clarifying is always helpful.
Lost dps. Major. If we single tank then we have better people than Guru to be in front soaking.

I do understand that Hal going retri is a better option, as is why I suggested it. (+30-40k dps, maybe even more).
On the other hand; Lets say Guru loose 35k on the soaking, and we have another ranged in instead of the tank it will still be a dps win.
Example, theoretically: -20k (from hal) -35k (from guru) + 75k (from ranged dps) = +20k dps
This is logs just taken out of the blue from a guild who met enrage, with a warr soaking:
Warr damage taken:

Warr damage done (yes, cleaves):

Aand.... Guru being an exceptional warrior and.. I think he will do even better than this example-warrior-soaker. This is also why I suggest it. :-D
Think you're over-estimating gain from dps and the loss from the plate soaker. We're close enough to not need big changes, we just need to tweak it imo.
Killed tonight.
2 tanks, 3 healers, 5 dps.
Pheromone rotation was 2 tanks + 2 healers
Initial DPS burn to get 3 legs down (front left, back right, back left), then ALL on body bar Guru (legs) and Midd's DOTs (legs).
Kill was about 30 sec ahead of enrage. Good job all
Rgw first kill tonight (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/07/je9y4egu.jpg)
Damn wrong place
Someone needs to show you the PrtScn button on your keyboard Sithy! It takes much better pictures than your phone! :roflmao:
