Title: Michael Schumacher nabs one of our bikes we loaned to the Lotus F1 team!
Post by: Gandalf on September 20, 2012, 04:38:16 PM
I know a few people follow F1 and there are a few cyclists here so figured this may interest some people.

Last week we got an email from the Lotus F1 team asking to borrow a couple of bikes for the drivers to use at the Singapore GP.  Like Monaco, the circuit is in the centre of town and it's impossible to get around quickly by car.

We sent a couple of 2013 Stirlings to our Singapore distributor, he built them and delivered them to the team yesterday.

Just received the following update from the team:

QuoteJust heard from the circuit about the bikes.
They are all massively impressed. Even Schumacher has just nicked one of the Montpellier's, done 2 laps of the circuit and wants to know if he can have it again in Japan?

Have a look here! http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-photos/8848/2012-singapore-formula-1-grand-prix-thursday/208829/#/208829

Indeed. But you'd have thought he could put his hand in his pocket instead of asking to borrow it again

I dunno, it's A PR's wet dream to be honest. Get a copy of the photo along with a client testimonial and it'd easily be worth hundreds of times the value of one sale.

Given there's about 337 cycling-centric magazines, blogs, online platforms and freelancers in Europe alone the publicity potential is awesome.

I can just see the straplines now !
