Title: Bosses vs talents and you
Post by: Swedeguy on October 18, 2012, 05:24:56 PM
Hi fellow Dead men, (and women :norty:), a little observation from the RGW group and the naughty "noame" mage......
After several pulls on The Stone Guards (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=60047) I got a little thought flying into my head. I remembered reading a blue sometime during spring/summer about the new talent system that it was meant to be about choices and versatility. In that you could actually respec depending on what you wanted to do and what bosses you were about to fight. When i remembered that last piece I took a close look on my talents. Especially the level 90 ones. Invocation (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=114003), Rune of Power (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=116011) and Incanter's Ward (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1463).

When I entered this raid I was running with Invocation (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=114003), it worked rather nicely, or so I thought. Having to move during a Evocation (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=12051) wasnt fun so I tried to time them a little better wich was working, sort of.....
Than I reread the tooltips and saw what Incanter's Ward (http://www.wowhead.com/spell=1463) would get me and "Hey, looks like it would work". And it did. Both me And Hermi can vouch for that. The cooldown may not fit every explosion from them but every other one is accounted for so less damage taken plus a nice spell power boost. Win/win I say. :D

The point I am making then? Look at what the fight looks like and what you have to do. A lot of damage going out? A patchwerk fight or running around like a headless chicken avoiding stuff?
So according to what is happening dont be afraid to change the talents from fight to fight. Have a few Tome of the Clear Mind (http://www.wowhead.com/item=79249) in your bags. This worked very well for us mages so I suspect it should be equally useful on other classes depending on boss abilities  and mechanics. I suspect some/a lot/all of you might know this already but if you dont I thought I'd make a post about it. At least it can serve as a reminder to me when I bang my head against a tough fight. :ranting2:
