Make it easy, step by step please.
No counterstrike on any internet machines at the moment, gonna be 2 weeks till my broadband starts.
In the meantime, do I just wait to register steam?
What do I need to do to get back on line. from scratch please, assuming everything was working a few months ago, where do I have to go, what do I need to register etc.

1. Install steam+cs (379 Mb file in circulation e.g. inour downloads section). If you are asked to convert your old 1.5 don't do it. Just keep on installing cs1.6.
2. Start steam. If you don't have an account you will have to create one. If you have and old account but don't remember you pw create a new one with a NEW e-mail adress (or try to get the old PW via steam).
3. Let Steam update its platform
4. Right click on Counter-Strike in the games window and select properties. In the new window select "always keep up to date". (Also make sure that the other games have the selection "never update". Should be that way by default but you never know)
5. Start CS and it will download the latest updates.
6. Enjoy.
Looks doubtful with move house(end of jan/big of feb) ill be getting broadband have to do with 56k again o crap, unless something happens between now and then the good thing is my dad really needs it for work. He needs constant share prices to make his earnings so 56k will be a bit** and hes trying to get it sorted as of yet we only know the postcode of the place and the telephone is confidental apperantly. But ill try my best to get on even if its with 56k(sigh).

no no no im moving end of januaryish time and we cant sort out broadband in that area so we might have to cope with 56k for a while but at leasts its a connection so i can sometimes play on the server. But fingers crossed we somehow get a faster connection than 56k.

DA, You could always try and talk your dad into getting an ISDN line, more expensive than broadband and a lot less bandwidth but a hell of a lot better than 56k dialup :D
My exchange has finally had a trigger level set and I've started a "broadband campaign" so I'll be putting leaflets through lots of doors over the next few weeks :blink:
The thought of a broadband connection makes me :dribble:
Yep i moan at him every other day so fingers crossed but ill still play even if i end up with only a wet string connection.
