So, I used to hear it back when I was a kid, there were these cassettes called "The Best 90s" (1-5?). Quite sure that The Best 3 had a white paper inserted with the song names.
There was this church bell song with some synth here and there; been trying to find it for over a decade, anyone that can help? Either with the song or some sort of link/photo of the cassettes I'm referring to?
ill have a listen to my itunes tomorrow
Im guessing Return To Innocence with Enigma.
I don't think there are any bells tolling in Return to Innocence? That's the one than begins with what sounds to me like Aboriginal Chants. Then again there's more tha n one version of several Enigma songs so I may well be wrong? There are church type bells in Mea Culpa but they're very brief and I don't think that's the track either
"Crises" by Mike Oldfield? - Enigma was mid 1990's. Maybe even Tubular Bells or Omadawn?
I have all their albums, as well as Jean-Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield and the Art of Noise.
My first guess :D
Best of album ,90s, released decade ago with a whitish cover lol.

Went through everything mentioned; unfortunately was a miss.
Afaik, there were no lyrics/voice overs. the bells were synthy. I'm also thinking early 90s, <95.
The tapes were simply named: The Best, and had stuff from petshop boys (Go West), a song from Aladdin informer, mr. vain, dreams - 2 brothers on the 4th floor, do you see the light by snap, Inner circle - sweat, tribal dance, oh carolina, east17 - its alright, corona, sing hallelujah - alban, and that sort of stuff.
There was also another cassette The Best (same series) with red background and yellow text.
I know how to hum it, it also goes like this:
tempo:
slow fast slow high high high low high
dum dumdum dum dumdumdumdumdum dumdumdumdum dumdumdumdum dum dumdumdumdumdum, then the tone changes a bit but after that it re iterates on the bells.
No lyrics at all? That's going to be tough to find.
I don't know why, but your very amusing 'hum' description made me think of Blueboy:

Another miss I'm afraid.
The "bells" I mentioned really sound like bells and not a beat.

go to .24 seconds ?
That's not it I'm afraid; doesn't have any lyrics.
You didn't say it didn't have any lyrics in it. That may help
So it's an orchestral piece only. Not going to be Jean Michel Jarre or anything ?

I did ;)
Not really orchestral, more like disco/rave/early house/techno sort of thing.

What genre is it? dance, rock, pop, does it have drums?
No drums or other classical instruments, not rock, no lyrics so that rules out pop.
No idea what the term is, synthesizer/eletronica/early house/techno=dance? It definitely sounded like it was made with a synth though.
ahh ok missed that my bad.
ummm this could almost be a gameshow ...... oh wait...... nm.
I'm now leaning towards some trance-y type music from Ministry of Sound or similar.

Does it have a beat though, four on the floor or drum loop? bassline, any vocal samples?
Would you dance or chill when listening?
Doesn't have a beat/baseline or whatnot, and no vocals at all.
For me its euphoric, could be very early trance or some sort of electronica. I can hum it, seriously, just grab me on ts.
I know exactly the song you are asking about but I wan't to see a video of you humming it before I tell you the answer :)
This might be a little earlier, but when bells and music are mentioned, apart from Mike Oldfield, this always pops up from the memory banks.
I know its not the one you want, but I present it for your delectation.:)
