I just switched from iOS to Windows Phone 8. Currently sporting a shiny black Lumia 920 and actually quite happy with it.
It has some quirks, but I really do love the OS.

Any good hints and tips about new apps for it?

I like it alot after a full week. Some odd quirks, but that was to be expected. Most stupid to now is no cell data counter and notification centre. That is in the works too. Really nice fluid OS and I personally like the interface.

Not to worry, all those features will come as soon as MS hires programmers able to read other programming languages than Visual Basic and C#.net.
That's the only thing stopping them from nicking those Android features like Apple did :p
