Only problem is I did purchase Arma II & literally started playing it got confused buy all the buttons and never played again...:g: any tips?

Like Toby has said, its a very steap learning curve, and you get frustrated at the begining but once you get the hang of it you wont look back.
You cant really compare the single player to the multilpayer, when we have a good turnout of people on a particuler night and work together with tactics and coordination its the best game around and the most fun, we have a great laugh. Dont let the fact that there are 1,000,000 keybinds put you off, there are plenty of people around to help if you need it :)

play the sp...and you will go for the alpha trial dd, this i have no doubt, especially as it is so much better in mp than sp

remember guys this is a single player alpha invite, if you like it and want to play multiplayer it will cost at least £20, but for that you get access to the alpha muliplayer, beta and the full game when it is released

I think even in the state that it is at it is worth 20notes but it is a very very different game from any FPS. I wouldn't even count it in the category

But, the price will start to go up (http://www.arma3.com/buy) once the game leaves Alpha phase.
Once it hits Beta is will be £29.99 minimum.
When released it will be £39.99 minimum.
So basically buy it now and you get it for 50% of it's final release price.
Good points Lib also by the time the full game is out your be a battle hardened member of the squad. ;)

If there is an invite going, I'd love one. If it then runs fine can I still then buy the Alpha for 19.99? If so I assume I'll then have 3 invites to post on here. I'd just rather see for myself how it runs on my Pc first.

Yes, You can still get Alpha for £19.99 if i send you the lite version. Remember though that once you have alpha you have access to the beta and the full version too so its very worth it.
Yes, i believe you will get the 3 lite steam gifts too as its a 'perk' for buying the alpha version.

Spent 20 minutes the other day running about (slightly jerky @ "low" 1920x1080 graphics) spotting, and then getting shot and rocket-ed by, some ai somewhere on the horizon. Not sure I am approaching this game right :rolleyes:

I'd love to come get shot by distant pixels on the horizon (is arma always missions against ai?) while being shouted at by real people instead of more ai but, as sparko said, I only have the lite version.
Going to play with the graphics settings as I finally (months, maybe years, bloody ati/amd) found the setting to make it stretch to fit when lower than native res (imagine a 19" screen with a 10" image on it...) but it looks like my slightly aged laptop (i5 with HD5950) may be struggling a little. Bit like me playing squash...
We play against the AI as they are nails as it is. But you would be taking orders from me or whoever is running the mission.
It is great fun, very tactical and very team based.
So rather than having friendly AI, who know what they are doing and just go off and do it, you have us standing around looking at butterflies and snakes, being generally crap together at a much slower pace.
Which actually works quite well in the long term.
