Title: 5.3 PTR Notes
Post by: TeaLeaf on March 23, 2013, 10:06:51 AM
The full notes are still not out, but two points of interest:

1 - Protection for bad luck streaks have been added to bonus rolls. Each bonus roll that does not provide loot has a progressively better chance to award loot to the player.

2 - PVE item upgrades are back with reduced cost!  Items upgradable by Valor now require 250 Valor to upgrade per 4 item levels, for a total of 500 Valor for 8 item levels per item.

Good news!

Awsome! thats two very nice changes.

Here is the rest (http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/9135374/53_PTR_Patch_Notes_now_available-3_22_2013) :D

found this aswell,
"Items upgradable by Valor now require 250 Valor to upgrade per 4 item levels, for a total of 500 Valor for 8 item levels per item."
"This is retroactive to all items that use Valor."

I think we will be getting some valor back for old upgraded items.

This part I do like
QuoteRaids, Dungeons, and Scenarios
Loot Specialization

Players can now choose to receive loot for a specialization that's different from their current class role. This feature could be accessed by right-clicking on the character portrait and selecting the option from the drop-down list. Loot specialization is available for bonus rolls, Raid Finder, and Pandarian quest rewards.
I had a hell of a time getting some tank gear on my paladin due to bad luck in five mans meaning she was soo squishy it was unreal, almost sorted now but being able to swap what loot you can get without being the wrong spec means you can maximise chances in the raid finder, no ret loot on that boss, select prot for a chance to upgrade that slot.

I like that a lot. I don't raid much but when I do it's usually to run through as a DPS rather than a tank which I'd probably not do well at. But I'd still rather get tank gear. In this way I can learn the mechanics while helping as a DPS but gear as a tank. So if and when I learn the raid I'll be geared to tank it as well.

I have to say that the pvp ilvl cap looks good, not getting steamrolled by elite-geared gladoators, but rather getting steamrolled by the ones that actually out-skill you will be a welcomed change, be in bg, rbg or arena.

But pve ilvl upgrade 250vp change will be welcomed by the community aswell. Less punishing upgrades ftw :-)

Wouldn't be too surprised if it was an April 1st thing, too many positve Qol changes for it to be legitimate imho.
