Great. OK Oldie get a server up for Thursday night thank you.
Does this mean we need to purchase a Arma 3 licence To run this?
Pretty much.
But, in theory, someone with the game and access to the server could log into Steam from there, get the game loaded and do the offline thing.
We know they are working on a stand alone server exe, so buying the Alpha just so we have one earlier seems a bit OTT.
It's not really an issue at the moment is it, when people hop into TS they can jump into the game that's being run.
Edit: Here's the thread for the dedicated server status from the developers.

Well I am quite happy to wait for the server and also means it is less likely to be buggy and need less troubleshooting, which in the long run will keep our Server guys happy.
So as long as we are happy hosting the game on each others machines and help out people that are having issues the better.
