Title: Installing v1.6.1
Post by: OldBloke on July 01, 2013, 09:37:55 AM
Minecraft Client

The information below is very likely to change. Please post any errors/omissions in this thread and I will edit the main information.

Moving form 1.5.x to 1.6.x requires a new Minecraft launcher. This page (https://mojang.com/) currently has the download links.

Sphax PureBDcraft Texture Pack

At the time of posting I can only find the 1.5.3 pack. Use the recommended 128x128 version for MC1.5.2 (http://bdcraft.net/download-bdcraft-texturepacks)

MC Patcher for MC 1.6.1

Download here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/jvt6j33962nuub1/mcpatcher-4.1.0-beta3.jar).

Installation Step 1

Start MC using the new launcher.
Click 'Play'
Click the icon to the left of 'Options'
Select your language
Click 'Done'
Click 'Options'
Click 'Resource Packs'
Click 'Open resource pack folder'
Using a file manager, copy the Sphax PureBDcraft 128x MC15.zip file here - do not unzip!
Click 'Done', 'Done', 'Quit Game'
Close the launcher.

Installation Step 2

Double-click on mcpatcher-4.1.0-beta3.jar
In the top menu click 'Convert Texture Pack'
Select 'Convert 1.5 to 1.6'
Select the file 'Sphax PureBDcraft 128x MC15.zip'
Click 'Open'
After conversion you may see a list of errors. Click 'OK'
Click the 'Mods' tab.
Click 'Patch'
Close MCPatcher

Installation Step 3
Start MC using the new launcher
Click 'New Profile'
Give the profile a name
Click the 'Enable experimental ...' box
Select 'snapshot 1.6.1-mcpatcher' version
Optional: Click the 'JVM Arguments' box and change '-Xmx 1G' to '-Xmx 2G' to double the memory allocated to MC.
Click 'Save Profile'
Enter your login credentials and away you go.

ok, since re-vamping my rig (added an ssd, new monitor, 8gb more ram, new install of windows (thats all)) i cant get the texture pack to work in minecraft.  when i go to the resource pack button on options i dont see the texture pack to choose within the game.  If i open the folder the .zip file is there.

im using 64bit java
have patched the texture pack from 1.5 to 1.6
the texture pack is definatly a .zip file
its in the right place.

Can anyway think of anything that may be causing this.  im finding it extremely frustrating :(

Hi buddy, did you copy the zip file from the Texture Folder to the Resource Folder before patching it?

New 1.6.1 x128 pack (http://bdcraft.net/download-bdcraft-texturepacks) available, so no conversion needed.

Includes the health and jump bar elements for horses, I was wondering why I couldn't see them.

Latest MCPatcher  (https://bitbucket.org/prupe/mcpatcher/downloads)fixes issues with glass in 1.6.2.

So I used the 1.6 launcher and created a new profile with 1.6.2 as the release. I ran MCPAtcher 4.1.0_04.exe and clicked patch.

It found and patched the .jar as normal.

Does glass now have a wooden surround on the Sphax Texture pack? That's what I have.

If it doesn't then what have I done wrong?

I did. I doubt there's any difference in function - just the delivery method.

Ah ok so glass no longer looks continuous but rather lots of single panes connected.

Use the patcher in this thread (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?38375-Server-Version-1.6.2) and the glass issue is fixed.

If you're having trouble with this and the glass blocks won't correct themselves even with a patch.

1) Go into: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\
2) Select all and deselect resourcepacks
3) Delete everything apart from resourcepacks
4) Launch the 1.6 Launcher App and let the game redownload everything fresh
5) Launch the game, then quit totally
6) MCPatch the game selecting all options on the front screen
7) Launch the game, choose your texturepack and join the server
8) You should now have glass back to normal.

Cheers,

Bert

And if you see wooden frames then all is well, they're supposed to be there.

I thought that on large sections of glass instead of glass with wooden frames rouns all glass, it would be only round the outside like below on the left, while mine is like the right (click to enlarge)

You should see solid glass as per the left of your diagram. The border around all glass issue was fixed with the latest patcher. Patch again. It should look like this ...

Click the long 'Patch' button.

Then in your launcher, make sure that the version (top right) is: release 1.6.2-mcpatcher

Seems I'm not patched right either if a border round each block is wrong. To be honest though I think I prefer the blocky look.
