Greetings,
I just registered on your forums after a quite pleasing race evening on your server, Dead Men Racing. Sometime back this would not be such a big event, but nowadays it's a rare find on more or less public servers.
I represent a LFS community (Racing League Romania) with currently about 15-20 active racers left (from 100+ at some point). Having raced with you for 1 hour was enough to realize that we share the same values. It's not the skill that comes first, but the respect of your fellows racers. The timing is also perfect, as our 7th season just finished last Sunday, and the next one will start in September. So meanwhile, it is the RLR Summer Events period :), when we use to organize open type events, in different combos.
Which brings me to the subject:
What would you say about a Team vs Team event (DMR vs RLR) ?
GUIDELINES (subject of modifications, according to commonly discussed wishes):
Participants: first 10 racers from each team (by first I could mean in terms of fair-play not only laptimes) :P
Quali Session : 30-60 minutes before the event, or a day before, or during the previous week
Quick Race : 30 minutes race
Main Race : 60 minutes race, with the start grid reversed for the first 10 places
Track : Westhill ? As it doesn't get enough love (TbD)
Car : anything in the Road category (TbD)
GOALS:
Having fun in our favourite sim (going against another team could mean a good motivation)
Meeting new fair-play racers
..and who knows if this wouldn't be the start of a long series of such events ? :P
What "say you" ? :)
Sportively,
RLR Luchian
I'm not a racer so I can't address your requests, but I'd just like to put on record, that it is posts like the one above that make me proud to be a Deadman.
Fair play & good company.
All the best with your races, I hope we hear reports of exciting duels in the future.
Edit: and btw, if any of you play CS:GO, you are welcome to join us for a scrap. Same ethos applies.
Heya Luchian and welcome to the forums :D great racing last night from everyone, the xfg is always a fun week, xrg next week so the fun should continue.
Thanks for the kind words and I'm sure if you organize a time and date, we can find ten or so racers from the Dominant Monkeys and Deadmen teams to show up. We already have weekly events for Sunday nights on the DM® server (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?37871-Weekly-Sunday-XFB-UFB-Championship) and Thursday nights on deadmen (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?23892-Dead-Men-Racing-Introduction), so Tuesday night would be great :thumb:
I'll be there, anyone else up for it?
Always interesting to see this kind of racing around, I'd join for a few events if time allows... wife, kids, job, vacations (not necessarily in this order) will be in the way of any event as they have been lately, but I always seem to find a few hours for LFS now and then.
Drumbun as Romanians say! (litterally good trip/road, not easy to find in Romanian countryside :) )
Thank you for the warm welcome.
So, if I understood correctly, there would be some interest for the event.
I'll throw a few questions inside RLR and should come back with a valid proposal.
On your side, I see Tuesday is the preferred day. As a side measure, any chance that we could squeeze in a Friday (or even a Saturday) evening in the list of possibilities ? (the family racers are not always available in the week days..)
OT, @Mille Sabords: it will still need a few years.. but it'll get there :)
Tuesday was my suggestion to get things going, Friday or Saturday should be ok.
Quote from: RLR Luchian;372479So, if I understood correctly, there would be some interest for the event.
Hopefully people will post here to express an interest, check back in a week to see before organising anything :D
Hi Luchian, welcome.
I would like to take part in some team racing, however, the proposed format is far too strenuous for me.
Sorry!
Welcome Luchian, lovely to hear the great feedback on the dMw server and the fair play of our dMr racers! Looking forward to seeing a dMr v RLR event agreed! Might even get my wheel out for a spin to make up the numbers if we are short!
OK, I'm back with news :). As everybody is preparing for summer holidays, there are similar concerns on our forum also. Therefore the format gets lighten up a bit. Also, we don't have a magic day that suits everybody, so we'll just establish one, hoping that interested people will show up :).
For a first encounter, anything should be ok, finally.. We'll see how it goes, and maybe we'll do it again sometime in the future. Main goal is to have fun.
So, new format:
Quali : 15 minutes (if not attended => start at the back of the grid in quick)
Quick : 20 minutes (15p, 12p, 10p, 8p, 6p, 5p, 4p, 3p, 2p, 1p)
Main : 40 minutes (for the first 10 places reversed grid) (20p, 15p, 12p, 10p, 8p, 6p, 5p, 4p, 3p, 2p, 1p)
Track : Westhill International Reversed
Car : XRG
Date: Friday, 12 of July
Time: 19H00 GMT
Server: Racing League Romania
We'll setup a password at race moment.
Hope to see you in big numbers :).
PS: Thank you TeaLeaf :)
XRG@we :) I'll be there :thumb:
I'll be there too, only I'll be going round the other way (weR) :)
If it's ok with everyone, I'll be available incase either team needs a spare driver to even things out. While I have many friends (although they will deny it) at DMr, I'd play no favorites. Anyhow supply me with the password and I'l show up ready to race if needed.
Ant
( and as Duck pointed out...I'll drive WE1R and just avoid jamin going the other way round :roflmao:)
:lmfao: feels like home here.
I don't think we risk filling a 32 race grid, so I propose that anyone racing under DMR colors is welcome (even if they are not really DMR per say).
If you'll be more than 10.. then we can consider balancing up a bit (supposing we'll not be enough either).
I hesitated to make the pass public too soon, but I guess we can always change it, in case of problems :).
So, until further notice, the password is: challenge4fun
Cheers,
Luchian
EDIT: it's ok for 2nd race also, only don't hope to be too high on the start grid :)
I'll try to come along. I may only arrive for the 2nd race though, if that's ok.
Err.. :narnar:
Sorry I won't be able to participate with my fellow dMr mates ..... it has been a while since I've been able to get on the servers at decent British hours. Real life is just too much in the way these past months .... can only get time to get a hotlap on the standings now and then just to motivate some of ya  and then see if I can catch ya sometimes :dribble:
Hope to be able to return to some head-to-head races before S3 comes out
So, has fear infiltrated the ranks yet ? :D
Would you prefer a common TS channel ? Or do you want to keep it separated by teams ?
A common one should be fine, I'm not sure how many are coming.
Hi Luchian
Looks great! will be there if possible :D
Great to hear :).
One small issue : during the summer, is GMT = UTC or not ?
What is your understanding about the race hour ? :)
GMT/UTC = same i think (BST for us GMT+1)
8pm for uk (i think)

Use the clock in the LFS Garage...better known as the Ant Clock...only good thing i ever did to this sim.

Fear! I smell no stinkin' fear. I do however see a fair and good race, here in LFS it is far and few between ( really though it's every Thurs for an hour).
As for the common channel...we were wondering if we can speak ( Badly broken English ) my other languages suck and my other car is a steam roller.
Looking forward to this event, as a driver, spare or ..I don't do mascot chit!

Would love to make it, but it starts 4 hours before i get off of work. D-oh! Good luck guys, hope it goes well!
Hey guys,
Looking forward to this event :).
Meanwhile, seems we have some problems with our TS server. If you have one, do you think you could arrange it so we'll join ?
If not, I'll just search for a public one and announce it here. Please let me know.
Luchian
We can use ours: http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?3363-Server-Password
I hope more than three turn up
Thank you. I'll post it on our forum, so my colleagues will be able to join. Don't worry about privacy, our forum is viewable only to registered members (after the event, I will erase it).
Hopefully. In any case we'll race :)
atomant is already training :D.
Optional request (as in would be nice to have) :)
- Name format should be like : RLR Luchian, or DMR Jamin, or .... Choice of colors it's up to you, as long as it is same for all members.
- License plate should be : LUC, JAMIN/JAM/ ...
- Ideally, a common skin for the members of one team
Nice races guys.
See you with the results ;)
Thanks for the evenings racing :thumb:
Thanks for some great racing :)
I streched out on the couch and fell asleep, oh well, catch you guys next time :)
For all the use I was, I should have gone to sleep also, but many would say that I drive that way.
Thanks for the great welcome from Racing League Romania, enjoyed the good clean racing,
although it was too long for me.
Sorry to have seen you go lameduck, and also sorry that atomant didn't take part.
Both I and RLR racers found it to be a cool event, with lots of clean racing and good pace. For those of you reading this from "outside" I can confirm that Dead Men are a cool bunch of guys that know "polite" on and off track. I suppose I tend to insist on this, but I find it one of the main ingredients in online racing, or online gaming in general. Personally I had a lot of fun, with a lot of duels, and didn't feel at all the race(s) being too long. I suppose that 3 times 20 minutes would've also worked, instead of 20+40.
As promised, here are some standings after this first encounter. This is only to motivate more of you to take part in a next occasion :).

Thank you,

PS: I have erased the TS Server password from our forum, so no security breach ;)
Very slick points table Luchian!
Thanks for a fun event, excellent and clean racing. I had some very nice battles with Bogdan and Zoinx!
Thank you Sean. Before wishing you all good holidays, some "postcards" ;). See you in about 1 month or so.

Very slick indeed :thumb: but.....
I need to point out that we have two teams based here, dMr are Deadmen racing and DM® are the Dominant Monkeys racing team so the stats are wrong  Woody07 and Blindfurry46 are both Dominant Monkeys racers, plus equally important is any praise is shared :D
:)
Mneah, actually I knew that, but as the event was meant to be DMR vs RLR, I have put everybody under the same colors :).
It is similar in our case with GTS; they are running with us, in RLR championship, but they are not RLR "per say". They were for a night though.
Basics idea is that we have to gather ranks :).

Actually i was racing on behalf of Deadmen racing and proud of it but whatever

For me, you were. And very good :)

 Ant... please throw down your weapon and step away from the keyboard....

That would be GTS ADY, second only to Niki after 12 races. What a great driver. Sry if i offended anyone, wasn't my intent.
Hi all, a quick post to inform you that I am currently out of hardware (the part I usually plug the wheel into is no more).
Nice timing, as I get to enjoy the sunny outside! I may get a replacement and start racing again by the end of august.
Enjoy your summer!
Heya Mille, enjoy your summer too :D
Howdy Mille, see ya soon!
Hi guys,
I figured it's not the case (yet :P) for a new thread, I'm just throwing one idea on the table. Hypothetical discussion, at this point :).
I don't know how things are for you guys, but in our league, the participation in official races diminishes week after week. We are currently at the middle of our 8th season, and last week we were only 5 drivers in the starting block !!!
I know that, generally speaking, LFS is on a descendent line, but it still can be a lot of fun !
So, what I was thinking is why not join forces with a league/community that has the same racing style ?
What would be your thoughts for such a proposal ?
I must admit that our racing schedule and type is a bit.. different maybe, but I can assure it is fun ! (don't judge it by the presence :) ).
Here is some data:- Season length: 17 Rounds = 17 weeks
- We have 2 seasons/year (1 starting in September, 1 starting in March)
- Races take part every Sunday evening (18H30 UTC..if I'm not wrong in conversion)
- One season = ONE car ! (or at most one class) ! (not that bad as it might sound actually) :)
- Race format:
- Quali 15 min or 30 min, depending on the track's length
- Quick Race : 15 min
- Main Race : 30 min (reversed grid for the first 8 pilots)
Whole event takes usually
maximum 1h30, with the pauses and dead times included.
What it would take for this to succeed:- Enough interest both on your end, and "our" end (haven't yet discussed this with the guys << hence the hypothetical)
- Finding the good racing hour that could arrange most of the drivers
- Manage to harmonize both your current race schedule and ours: makes from the 2 >> just a common one
- Agreeing on the format to apply
I can take care of the standings, I am doing it anyways currently.
Why YOU ? Glad you asked :)
- I have already stated that you seem to defend the same principles in racing; not only beeing fast, but beeig respectful in the first place !
- Your level seem close to ours; good balance between racing for fun and making fast lap times (good spread of skill, just like in our league)
- We have already raced together once, and it was very pleasant (at least for me/us)
Please, discuss :).
Sportively,
Luchian
Hi Luchian, we too are experiencing the decline in active racers (I'm one of them), but between Deadmen and the Dominant monkeys, we have enough to fill a week of racing with our Thursday evening 1hr race and the Monkeys Sunday evening event, so I'm not sure there's enough space for another weekly event. I could be wrong though, so if there's anyone reading this thread that's interested, they should make a post showing that interest
Of course, RLR are more than welcome to come and race the dmr's ..... if you think you're fast enough :narnar:
Hey Luchian, 'tis a nice idea and thanks for the kind words too :) . I don't think I would be up for it though. I have enough with our Thursday race and the Monkey's Sunday event.
Thanks for bringing the offer to us though!
Hey guys,
Actually my point would be to merge the 2 events : RLR's Sunday League Race with Monkey's Sunday Race ==> ONE common Sunday Race
With 2 simple endings: have more racers on the start grid and in the same time not to clutter one's weekly racing schedule :).
Anyways, I understand your point, just wanted to clarify mine :). Thanks for your thoughts.
Ahh yes sorry, I missed that when I first read over it :) . I guess you will have to wait for one of the Monkeys to see what they say, though.
Hey Luchian
I will need to talk with Zod and the other guys but i like the idea of more friendly racers on the grid.
Can you join us sunday so we can all discuss this together?
I'd love to, but what time is it ?
(we have official race from 18:30 UTC to about 20:00 UTC, and I can't miss it 'cause I'm fighting for the title :D )
Thats cool jump over after your race :) (good luck)
Thanks :).
To join you on Sunday, it's the usual server ? Or the monkeys have another ?
Will be on DM®Racing 2
Pass is RED
Noted.
thanks for racing with us Sunday Luchian :-) Sounds intereasting. i look forward to hearing more.
Hey guys, hoping to join tonight the 1 h race (can't find the bloody dedicated topic to post) :).
A preventive question please:
Supposing somebody would ask, would it be possible to make an exception and allow custom cam in race ? :)
Thanks,
Luchian
PS: no, it's not for me :)

Sorry, in car only :nope:
Yup in car only, used to be a chase view person (and still faster that way!) But use FCV for the races, you get used to it after a while!
