Title: EA strike again!
Post by: TeaLeaf on September 13, 2013, 08:45:37 AM
You got to hand it to EA, they really know how to screw the pooch.   This news this morning from our BF3 server hosts:

QuoteHi Gaming Fans,

I writing to inform you of the recent news GamingDeluxe has received with regard to hosting BF4, which is due for release in 7 weeks.

Electronic arts in their infinite wisdom have decided to trim their RSP list for the game to a very fine list. Consequently this means we have not been included on the list, and will not be able to host BF4 for you. The facts of our hosting of previous BF games speaks volumes. GamingDeluxe currently host 170 UK servers and gametracker has a total of 350 listed, therefore we are hosting half of the UK BF3 servers and yet we have been left out of EA's core list. This means you will be required to find another host if you are looking to get a BF4 server. EA are yet to release a list of these providors so sorry we cant shed any light on that question.

A large group are trying to get EA to hold off on this decision and try and get the independent GSP's back onto the list, please take 5 minutes of your time to visit this site and sign the petition and also post this link to this on your forums so your clan mates can sign also.

Best Regards,

The GamingDeluxe Team

Wow, if the company that host 50% of the servers in a country is left out then there's something big coming. Do you think they're going the MW2 route and ditching traditional servers altogether?

Saw the email. What the hell is their thought process? Oh has some hosting yahoo made a back-handed offer to get sole hosting rights?

I did too, more competition means lower prices.   Less means EA makes more money by signing restrictive distribution deals.   We end up paying for it all.

Bring back the old days where we bought the game and we could host our own game servers.

If only the Competition Commission did something useful about issues like these, instead of trying to shut down much-loved cinemas (http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Cambridge/MP-Julian-Huppert-joins-fight-so-save-Cambridge-Arts-Picturehouse-20130829060018.htm).

EA are clowns, who evidently hate their customers.

Black-Ops did this with GameServers.

Whilst it worked, we were severely restricted in what we could do with the set-up and size of server.

PITA :(

I signed even though I won't play an EA game on principle anymore. But for the fact that it would deny many dMw community members the chance to play their Multi Player games of choice I hope EA disappear down some bankruptcy black hole and their Ip get snapped up buy someone who as a clue about how to provide customer service.

Should you really be advertising on here?

No you should not. While the sale of Fifa coins is rife it's also explicitly against Electronic Arts T&Cs. While EA may not choose to enforce their rule at the moment this forum isn't going to condone something they explicitly forbid.

General rule with this kind of stuff is to comment DD, but not duplicate his text means otherwise we have two posts to edit!    The ban hammer is hovering over angelafmy at the moment.
