Just a quick question for those of us who have not played Shogun 2 before:
Which of the 37 Shogun 2's listed on steam is the one we're playing? (just in case I want to buy it!)
You'll want the vanilla Shogun 2.
There are a couple of expansions, Rise of the Samurai which is an add-on and Fall of the Samurai which is a standalone game and not the original.
There is a lot of downloadable content which are not part of the original game and I assume will not be part of any LAN gaming ? The Visceral add-on is cool. For 99p you get to chop peoples arms and heads off and such like!
There is a Gold Edition which is the vanilla Shogun 2 with a sexy box and a few free toys.
I just bought the standard Shogun 2 from Steam (when it was on offer). You will need to link it to a Steam account to make it work though.
Yeah, Toby responded via PM and edited the OP to give the full name of the game. I managed to pick up a copy of the Total War Shogun 2 'Gold Edition' for £15 which is cheaper than steam offers just the game for. The Gold Edition came with:
Total War Shogun 2 Gold Edition:
Total War - Shogun 2
Total War - Rise of the Samurai ( new DLC )
Total War - Shogun Fall of the Samurai
Plus all of the below additional content -
Dragon War Battle Pack
Hattori Ninja Clan Pack
Ikko Ikki Warrior Monk Clan Pack
Otomo Gunpowder Clan Pack
Saga Clan Pack
Tsu Clan Pack
Sendai Clan Pack
Saints & Heroes Elite unit Pack
Sengoku Jidai Elite Unit Pack
Didn't seem too bad a deal for £15.
I'm guessing we'll stick with vanilla, to make life easier for everyone - that's what we usually do!
Will Civ 5 be played with any of the expansions?
Probably keep it vanilla mate
