Title: Eveyone gets a go
Post by: BrotherTobious on October 06, 2013, 09:52:24 PM
Guys

Had a issue brought up by one of our players stating that some people are always doing one thing and not giving others a chance to try it out, or show they have skills.

So if we can please when running a mission see if others want to try rather than letting the same people do it.  Also quewlling the need by some people to do take over the more interactive things.  I know we have been trying but maybe we need as we get this game going more regularly with longer nights we can stamp it out.

I think we all know what we are talking about here. :)

Thank you for your attention

Looking forward to seeing you all on the servers :)

IMHO we need to keep things inclusive. It's true that players like myself, Oldie and others seem to quite like the medic role. I'm assuming that other players are either not fussed or not keen on staying at the back and focusing on getting people on their feet. It's a bit silly to make people play a role they don't actually want to play. But of course anyone should be able to have a go and play a different role when they want. Also (and I'm very guilty of this) maybe we could spread the Squad Leader role about and not force the same long suffering people to keep running things all the time?

For me the main issue is the very annoying way some players (player) seem obsessed with certain roles and clearly don't care at all about other players and whether they get to fly choppers, be the sniper, drive tanks etc. It's all 'me me me'! If you add in the fact that the culprit(s) cannot fly a helicopter to save their lives then it becomes a case of 'here we go again, we all sit in the back and wait till we fly into the ground'. I think we should be rotating the more key roles a bit more. It began to get a bit ridiculous in Arma 2 and it would be good not to get into the habit of letting 'he who shouts loudest' get the choice roles.

Whinge over :)

Yes please. Volunteers welcome. Me and Toby seem to get stuck doing it purely because nobody else wants to.

The 'role hogging' is an issue. My solution would be to have the Squad Leader choose who he wants in which role. It's up to the SL if they want to manually assign people or ask for volunteers, but we should all make sure that everyone gets a fair crack at everything.

When I am at my new place I will step up more.

My main problem with leading is being interrupted by work in US hours, hopefully this will calmn down soon.

My main reason for not leading is apathy and a love of an easy life. So with no real excuse I'll have a crack at running a mission or two. Someone else will have to carry the sticking plasters and Lemsip for me though.

I've found that when trying to lead people don't follow. They say 'I'll just go over here and do this instead' or just go off and do something. Gets to be a bit of a pain and in the end I just can't be bothered. It's the army and not a democracy. Do what you're told to do and die doing it, it's your job. Stop trying to be smart and clever, that's the leaders job.

I'd like to say rant over, but it's probably not.

OK thanks for the feedback we will take steps to curb and to make it more enjoyable for us all.

I'm going to start executing disobedient troopers, Commisar-style.
