Post by: smilodon on October 09, 2013, 12:29:01 AM
QuoteRich and Lisa Shaw say there were no warning signs that their 300-pound Burmese Python would crush and eat their 3 year old son.

Really dreadful sorry :crying:

Sadly this is all too accurate for many of the families that are on daytime TV shows.

That's almost as good as most daytime tv in the US.   Chopping away the layers of the story, one layer at a time, each layer making you cry a little bit more. :crying:

I watched this a few times and actually thought it was a joke, now don't get me wrong I don't wish harm on anyone but some of the things the child's parents were saying rang alarm bells for me.

This animal did the following

Father: you never think a python is going to bring you're family anything but joy

newsreader: no, you only think this can happen to other families who have a 300lb pet

Ate their Boston terrier a dog.

Father: we would never let Zack by the pool unsupervised by either one of us or the python?

So they think a 300lb snake is a good pet bringing joy to a little kid, they let "jaws"  the snake watch their son by the pool is they weren't there, they didn't think of taking the snake to animal control once it ate their dog.

I don't think a child of Zack's age would be any worse off for having to play with Lego/his sister/his parents etc etc etc rather than a 300lb snake.

This is a tragic story indeed but it could have easily been avoided.

Python facts

A python is a constricting snake.

They will generally not attack humans unless startled or provoked, although females protecting their eggs can be aggressive. Reports of attacks on human beings were once more common in South and Southeast Asia, but are now quite rare.

Larger specimens usually eat animals about the size of a house cat

I'm dumbfounded a couple thought that a 300lb snake was a good pet for a young and small child.

ROFL that's hilarious.

"Just love your kids every day. Because you never know when God is going to invite them up to Heaven through your snake"

I can only assume you've never heard of "The Onion".

I like the fact they are after donations for a "Therapy Snake" for his sister who is taking the loss her brother hard.
