Hey all,
I am off to Norway to see the Norwegians in January 2014.
The dates I am going are 31st January 2014- 2nd February 2014.
Rough itinerary includes beer, gaming, hunting and skiing.
Let me know if anyone wants to tag along.
Fingers crossed Coolhand will be able to make it!
I am flying from Gatwick to Alesund at 17:45 then returning Sunday at 16:30.
Should be fun!
Sweet (-: pretty sure we can make this memorable :p
Sounds like fun.
Chatting to Swede and Michelanio in the car they were extolling the hunting. Have fun and be careful. No respawns on this one.
This will be fun :D
Please let us have him back in one piece(ish) :flirty:
Sounds interesting, except the skiing part which is simply a waste of good quality 'drunk with a gun' time.
Going via Norwegian Air GM (direct on the outbound and with a stop at Oslo on the way back)?
Might tag along on this one, will check my diary.
The more the merrier :D
even tough most of the hunting season is over. only foxhunting left. But we can go to the range and test stuff :D
The range and testing stuff sounds like the thing to do :D
Hmm fox hunting.. Maybe I should load up some nasty varmints in the .30-06 for my Mauser (m98k) if he wants to borrow something effective :-P

I've booked the same flights, now all I need to do is find someone to stay with (preferrably without a cat/dog), otherwise I'll sort a hotel somewhere.
looking at coming along too, would there be somewhere to stay? the flights would use pretty much all my moneys
Flights are pretty cheap atm, £39 out and about £80 for the return leg.
As for accomodation I'm hoping to persuade one of the 'dMw locals' to let me kip in a spare room/floor or whatever is available. If we run out of local room I'll slum it in a nice 5 star hotel I've found!
Nice :D I'll see if I can get off from work and meet up with you guys :D About the bed bit we're going to make a meet over here and do some planning :D
I might have a cabin a hour and a half drive from here, where we can stay a night or two if we want :g:5 beds, so should be room for a few peopple there. It's just like this one: linky!! (http://www.dancenter.no/norge/feriehus/nordlige-fjord-norge/more-omsdal/sande-mr/33224)
So.. I just rented out my kids for the weekend, that means I can easily have 3 people staying at my house (-:
Seeing as I'm a bit more centrally placed than Fausty or Raggy I'm thus suggesting y'all stay with me!
Sounds good?
Works for me, thanks for the offer!

Sounds great, thanks for the offer :). Looks like we are all sorted TL!
Can't wait to go skiing, shooting have a few beers should be a great laugh!
Can't wait to have a few beers, shooting a few skiers should be a great laugh! :roflmao:
:getmecoat:
Seriously though, as we're there such a short time I think I'll pass on the skiing and just take in the views and the alcohol.
I would have LOVED to tag along to see spiritus ( and marianna abit less seeing he will do dirty things to me ... ) but wont be able to make it in january! next trip you can count me in :P
But hubbah, my wife might not be here and then there will be room in my bed.. :p

Rofl!!!
Mmm, I'm moving to my new house in December so money will be tight but I might have to sort something for this.
I'm with TL on this 1.... Booze, views and gunning down skiers

I cant believe it.. but you make it sound ( in my head ) even more dirty then IRL .. cant believe it :P
Will see if I can make it to Ã...lesund while you are there :) Would be cool since I missed the LAN this year.

Ales und :) nice anywhere ales are available, although it looks very remote! What temperature should GMjr expect at that time guys?
Somewhere between +5 and -15, we never know here (-:
But the effective temp differs depending on how much you drink:p
I am anticipating 'warm'.
Keep an eye open for the lesser-spotted Vobler as I understand he 'nests' in the vicinity of Alesund. :)
Ok change of plans, I am now coming :D
Booked my flights, same ones as GhostMjr :)
Yayz.
Sweet! I'm just gonna ask though if either chaos og ghost is allergic to cats, seeing as I have a couple, and TL pointed out that he can't stay at my house because of that.. No worries, we will find room for him somewhere:-) Spiritus keeps turtles though so he's got an allergy friendly home and could spot TL a couch or cot(-:
Btw what are your flight details so that we can plan a little better :)
DY2472 landing 20:55 on 31/1.
DY409 depart 16:30 on 2/2
Mmmmmm, turtle soup!

Sounds Great Mirianna!
I don't mind cats :).
TL, chaos and I are all on the same flights together.
No problem with cats here :)

Im a bit sad. I have a whole weekend with union stuff at those dates :(
Go on strike and come to the meet!
@mirianna: more beer required!
Shouldn't be a problem TL, booze can always be fixed!
Though I'll let someone else find beer as I don’t know what to buy that will sooth your palate ;-)

We'll bring some drink along from the duty free!

Ghost had a good question, so decided to put the answer here.
He asked if there was any firearm safety resources that should be looked at before coming over. Of course there is.
For those coming with us to the range, we'll provide the safety gear etc. and there will be a safety briefing/quick weapons handling intro. It might be a good idea to check out these few things first though.
Gun safety: guidelines and mindset.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_safety#Rules_and_mindset
Introduction to range safety and etiquette:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COvFyw-6Fqs
How to safely load and unload a firearm:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9UDlyT4lHM
Of course that guy talks about a firefight, being an american. None of that here. You'll mostly be shooting the guns until they're empty anyway, but good to know clearing technique.
For those that want to get a head start on shooting technique, I stumbled across these videos the other day. Some great information there.
Stance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fp_2ECfbwKo
Grip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDzC6djUQxM
Sight alignment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C8y5yVnyu0
Trigger press: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trYNu36-g5o
The grip video was kind of 1911-specific, so here's another one using a glock as a demo. Handy, since we'll be trying out glocks :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iQb8j_hXnM
Colour me excited.
I shall do my homework before coming along, cheers faust!
Oh and not paying attention to firearms safety makes Kake twitchy and apprehensive, which is not something you want :-)

Nice links for the firearms, will try to review!

Two coffees and I managed to complete basic training. Looking forward to having a great time!
As TL reminded me with a timely pm I have completely forgotten to tell you that you will be picked up at the airport when you arrive.
We are infact in a bidding war on who gets to pick you up right now :-P

Hmm, do any of you mind picking up some cigarettes for my wife on the way through?
Kinda forgot to ask before, as they are about half the price there it would be nice.. Though only if you feel like it, no pressure!

What brand do you want? We will buy the quota.
You guys arrive ok? Make sure you get plenty of pictures etc, would have loved to have joined you but work this time of year is a bit silly :(

They have guns and now has alcoholz :-)

40 rounds in 12 seconds from a Glock says we had fun. What a fantastic range of weapons were fired tonight, simply awesome fun. Thanks to everyone for the loan of the rifles, revolvers & pistols.
Most fun tonight was a three way tie:
.357 Magnum with red dot sight.
Dual Glocks (36 rounds total).
1941 Mauser rifle (with that special Russian ammo) - the loudest and most fun sound you'll ever hear!
Oh, and thanks to the Nazis for digging out the fuel dump from the rock because they made fantastic gun ranges within the mountain!

We are now drinking whiskey and beer, and it is good, not gonna be an early morning tomorrow!

Come on, where's the video of Ghosty shooting himself in the leg?
We need to see it.

Not sure how many survived last night, not seen any of them so far this morning. Perhaps it was the unfeasibly large quantity of alcohol drunk! Awesome evening though and a first time tasting whale (legal and non-endangered), it was actually really nice. Massive thanks to everyone for organising the room, the cooking and the large number if people who turned up, a great time was had by us all (although I'm not sure GhostMjr will recover sufficiently to get on a planet this afternoon!!).
Alesund trip has been a huge success and much gratitude goes to those who helped make it such a fantastic weekend.

Recent reports show Ghost and Chaos are still twenty thousand leagues under the influence. I've been up for a few hours, but with Casa Woha still down for the count I'm not mobile yet. Considering heading over there to cause havoc and wake them up.
The trip home yesterday was weird in and of itself. We passed a kindergarten and decided to avail ourself of the various implements outside. The slides and the swing set was particularly fun. We also learned Ghost can't jump fences for sh...
All in all, great fun 🙌

Hope you folks had a blast. I just finished my stint at the union. See you next time :)
On the plane back home, landing in Gatwick in half an hour. Thanks all for a brilliant weekend! The warm welcome and hospitality all of you extended our way was simply tremendous, and very much appreciated. Great fun from start to finish.

GOOD LORD.....that's so wrong on so many levels (nowadays of course, not so in the seventies, when every Celebrity was availing themselves of the various "implements" they found outside their studios!!).
Just need to hear from a Swede that my recent viewing of "The Bridge", and SAGA in particular, was indicative of Swedish women......cold, callous, indifferent to suffering and vehemently truthful???...................and if so, do you have a Sister I can Marry!! :) :)
..................no, Seriously, do you have a sister like that I can marry?!!
Quote from: faust82;380913........We passed a kindergarten and decided to avail ourself of the various implements outside........
I had to read that twice just to make sure what you'd written lol.
Glad you all have an excellent time ! :)
Back home safely and very grateful to our hosts for a fantastic few days. Great fun, awesome company and we were made to feel very whalecum!
On a serious note, Alesund is a spectacularly beautiful place to visit and defintely worth a trip.
I'm glad to hear that the whalecum was to your taste!
And I am glad you guys came to visit our little town! Such fun was had, much spirits was consumed and wow times were captured on camera!
I'm hoping that you will grace us with your presence again:-)

It was a blast! and you guys are whalecum back anytime :D not to bad waking up sunday "morning" and TL had a cup of coffe ready for me :D and the area is a nice place for leveling if you use ingress thingye from google. And if we get another meet in Ã...lesund, maybe we should make it during summer so chaos don't need to pack so many clothes, save som luggagespace :roflmao: so a small adding up for the weekend: fun, blast, guns, food, fish, whale, trips, nature, views, museum, spirits, great company, loads of dMw peopple and a lot more :yahoo:
Quote from: spiritus;380964and the area is a nice place for leveling if you use ingress
Just make sure you turn up for the Enlightened, not that Resistance pos!
Enlightened all the way. Shame a couple of L8 blues have locked down my entire neighbourhood! Moving soon and my new home area is unclaimed though :-) Glad everyone had a good time in Norway.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
The Enlightened pretty much rule Sunnmøre, and we have a nice contingent of those in dMw. Woha/Mirianna and Ragnarh/Kakehund are L8, I just dinged L7 this afternoon, and TL is progressing nicely after a farming session. Add Smilo to the mix, Oth which has just found his account again and possibly a few others, we could get up to hijinks :D
Going through the photos now, and can't believe that in such a gadget-centric crowd, noone did the obnoxious thing I'm often guilty of, taking photos of the food :p
Loads of photos from healthy activities like shooting guns, going to the aquarium, hiking and drinking though. Fair amount of video footage too. Right now it's locked away in the event created for it, but once we agree on which bits not to remember too keenly, and we're pretty sure we've gotten all we want in there, we'll publish a bit :D
How about some photos for the rest of us? Haven't seen you guys for nearly seven years, and some even more.. Lan XII and the SoG meet bring back nostalgia.
Something in the Summer would be great, doesn't have to be Norway, as long as it doesn't break the bank.
The good old times.

There's a bunch on piccies on the G+ group.
L5 now, yay! :3cheers:
Good going! The game truly starts at L6 and up, though a lot of places will say that it doesn't start till L8 :-)
But at L6 you can harass the L8 players quite a bit and it is kinda like playing with dragons, you know that they are bigger than you but thats what makes it so fun ;-)

Ding, L6!
How are you progressing Smilo?
Bah, I'm still L4.... Need to find a nice high density area to grind.
Dropping resonators into empty slots or upgrading them is good AP, but the best is still creating fields. Otherwise just hack everything as you go by.
Bexhill seafront is littered with portals, so is Royal Parade/The Goffs area in Eastbourne, lots of good drive-by or cycle hacks in that area. 30 mins on a bike and you'd get quite lot.
All AP is good AP, you get 125 pr mod, 65 pr resos, an extra 250 for filling up a portal.. Just remembering to ler portals decay so that you can get to fill them up again will help you a long way, but from 7 to 8 fields fields fields ;-)
Good job btw TL :-)
