Title: Protection Paladins and haste (don't read if your a dps caster)
Post by: Whitey on November 24, 2013, 11:02:37 AM
OK so I was checking the top EU Prot Paladins to see how they are gearing as I haven't looked since 5.4 hit.
Haste has been a  strong stat for a while but stamina was also seen just as good if not a bit better (most tanks used the Stamina Trinkets in at least one slot prior to 5.4) but that looks like it's changed as Haste is clearly up the priority list versus Stamina with none of the top paladins I've looked at are using the Stamina trinkets (sorry JAS).  I knew Thok's Tail Tip (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/item/104613) was a BiS item but what I didn't expect was that the Amp (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/item/105422) trinket is also being used (http://www.wowprogress.com/character/eu/twilight-s-hammer/Kultziliini)!!!   That's right... an intellect trinket that probably every dps caster wants is also being bid on by Paladin Tanks.  I can just imagine the comments in raid from Guru when my first bid goes in!

QuoteYeah obviously Int isn't ideal, but at least it has use with increasing spell crit, which means EF crits and some offensive crits too. That's another ~2800 rating worth of static rating for haste/mastery, with yet another bonus to crit damage/healing. That's a pretty big deal in my books, and consequently gets you right about to haste cap based on that 4P build I posted.
The second option is Black Blood of Y'shaarj. 2520 static haste rating for 580ilvl, so if you want your haste, there you go. It has a feather's style stacking int RPPM proc. With respect to int, see previous paragraph, yes it actually has uses."

Bid by all means, but it will cost 125 dkp and then a lucky roll!

I thought the effects of the trinket was limited to only work on intellect based dps? I'm pretty sure Thok's tail tip says that only strength dps speccs will get the effect.

I'll see if I can find their logs but I can't believe these guys are using it if it doesn't work.

Icy Veins also list it in their  BIS list for Prot.

Edit: Thok's Tail Tip doesn't say it's only for strength dps specs in the journal, Evil Eye of Galakras does.

I disregarded the warning in the title and I gotta say, if you don't want to know what it feels like to swallow a kilt, I suggest you hold off on your strange ideas about the uses of caster trinkets for Tanking, untill the casters have had a chance to get one.:eyebrow:

ROFL!

In all seriousness, it's a free bidding system, so if it's bis for prot paladins then you're as entitled to bid as any of us.
