Title: Even teams always a good thing?
Post by: JB on December 21, 2003, 12:37:04 PM
Could 'the admins' consider in future evening teams by swapping players, as well as stacking teams so they're ridiculously outnumbered on one side.  I feel it may be worth a trial run and if it doesn't work out then at least we tried it.

Lets face it, if any of us have problems being swapped to a diffrent team then they really shouldn't be here.

I actually did just what you suggest last night when we played on dust (4 vs 4) and I think it worked out well. Good suggestion and I will do my best to make it work (I know the other admins will do it as well).

Cheers

As one of the four, I have to say I enjoyed it while it lasted

Worth considering that it isn't always a numbers thing!!......I was oner of the (eventual) 10 the other night but when I joined there were 7 CT's and 4T's and the T's were winning 6-1??!!...........from 4-1 when I first joined the server.....so I took the opinion that the CT's needed the numbers more than the T's??¬¬

Often the map being played (Italy is the classic) if played astutely by the defenders can accomodate a 2-1 or even 3-1 disadvantage in players depending on either

a/ the quality of the opposition
b/ the quality of the defenders
c/ The quality of teamwork on either side

...........although the score was eventually dragged back by sheer numbers I think it would be fair to say that the CT's were not playing particularly well as a team whilst the T's were very tight and organised (well done you four  :frusty:

Alternatively I have been a T on Italy within a team of six players and been royally raped by four CT's to the tune of 10-2 (I won't name the four CT's but you all know who I mean if I say "experienced senior players"......(you don't?, okay so it was............. :D

I think the real art is to swap the "correct" players (sometimes the top scorer in a side (but only if the rest of that team is scoring reasonably well and the other team has no real "stars".........but alternatively the lowest ranked players in one team if only to add the advantageous numbers element) so a sensible balance can be achieved.............Thus the art of the Admins is indeed a fine one in these circumstances as more often than not as soon as someone sees a numbers defecit the teams are immediately "unfair or imbalanced"??............

Now if we could categorise every player into Animals's, Saviour's, Leader's, Grunts, Wildcards and CannonFodder (yep, that's me  :D ) with a numbers rating for each category (1-6) then the admins could add the scores of the individual elements, get an equal number, and there would be no grounds for protest from anyone??!! :norty:

Okay, so that was long winded but I guess the real acid test is the amount of COMMON SENSE displayed and employed by all players in addressing inequalities in teamplay??

Okay, I'm getting my coat NOW!!  :byebye:  ;)
