Title: Chrome & Blank Pages
Post by: Gorion on February 17, 2014, 04:12:38 PM
Recently my Chrome (browser) is displaying white blank pages at random.  Sometimes a tab which was working normally turns blank when I switch to and fro.

Has anyone encountered this issue and found a solution?  I already tried emptying the following folder to no avail (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Storage).

Using W7 and Chrome Version 32.0.1700.107 m.

Is it due to a broken extension?

Yes I think it is. Happened to me but I don't remember which extension it was, I think it was https  from Electronic Frontier Foundation. But it might be another one for you. Trial and error is the only solution I came up with.

Not sure, the only extensions I use are adblock, ghostery and cite this for me:web citer.

Also been using the ones above for quite a while prior to problem occurring.

Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration in the options?

Torch is great alternative browser. Based on chrome, quicker and a few nifty social media features and torrents built in. If you're doing a rebuild it's worth a go.

As Chrome updates itself regularly, extensions that have been working for ages can sometimes cease working or start causing problems.    It's always worth disabling them all and then re-enabling one by one to rule them out as the cause of the problem.

I'd start by disabling all extensions. I use Adblock and Ghostery too and havnt had any issues with them.
Can also recommend this as a chrome alternative (http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron_chrome_vs_iron.php). Bit more lightweight, and some of googles tracking features removed.

So far all chrome extension I've tested work just fine in Iron.

Thanks for the info mates.

I'll start with the extension disabling part, not that many to go through anyway.
