Awesome:

Cutlass:
-docking collar now opens (and you can jump through)
-rear ramp activated by small blue switch on rear right strut/leg (get close to it to activate)
-flight deck entry also via wing ladder activated by small blue switch on front left strut/leg
-upper turret seat now active and takes you up to the gun turret position
-never jumped off the wing of a starship before, but I just did!

Constellation
-P52 is missing!

Freelancer:
-liking the cockpit, much better vision and better layout (new pillar layout in particular improve the view)

Holotable:
-now shows more sections and details some power plants too

Textures look real nice and it is running much smoother for me at my resolution.

Like some others, I'm a victim of the dark interior, flashing lights and broken textures on my Freelancer. Some Connie owners similarly affected it seems. Also, lots of people complaining that the lift is now bugged, dropping people between floors is a common complaint.

In all honesty I'm feeling a bit let down by all this. Rightly or wrongly I was expecting far better from the SC team.

Which graphics card are you using OB?    My Freelancer was a little dark on the exterior (almost black), but the inside was lovely.   I saw none of the afore mentioned screen glass flicker on the Freelancer.

Connie lift I know you have to jump onto the lift in this patch, but that was in the patch notes.    Didn't have any other issues with it tbh.

I think the type of hangar you have makes a difference too, from what I read the Business hangar is the brightest, so I expect the lighting will change in time.

It was a wasted download for me, the business hanger looks brighter (too bright?) but can't say i noticed much of an improvement on anything. The Avenger looks the same and has the same issue as previous release (offset hands on grip).  I was hoping I might have been able to play with the guns but still nothing I can use. Bring on the Dogfighting...

I'm using an AMD HD7970. The broken lift is the hanger one I believe, not the Connie's.

I'll check the lift in my hangar to see, didn't use it this morning.

Only difference for me was the gun now has sound

Couldn't honestly see any other difference so not sure what the rest of the 800mb+ update has done.

The hanger has always seemed rather dark for me and then extremely bright whilst walking around the exterior of my ship but I had originally put that down to me being too lazy to adjust my monitor settings, but that may not be the case judging by some comments on the RSI forum.

I believe that the 800mb is a redownload of the whole hanger module rather than a patch. Apart from the Xmas decorations going away it all looks much the same as before to me.

Tried mine this morning and didn't see a problem, but that's no guarantee that there isn't a bug in there somewhere!

They do seem to have done something to the hangar code though, it is definitely running better on my nVidia graphics system, the previous hangar was a little jerky imo whereas this iteration seems to run smoothly now at my settings (2560x1600 with quality set to High).

Overall I think we need to remember that the hangar was something to let us to see the ships during crowd-funding and as an interim for the DFM.   We're still pre-alpha at the moment and they're still working on a huge amount of basic stuff.    From what I have read, now that numbers of devs have increased since the start of the year, they have moved into their 'agile development' mode and have a number of teams working on different aspects and all  moving them forward together.   In the next 6 months I'm expecting a lot more of the known ships to be released, the DFM and by the end of the year the PU should have been tried and tested through alpha and possibly even into beta.

Anything we're getting at the moment I'm treating as a bonus, but I can well understand the frustration if you load up the hangar and see a problem - so far I've been lucky and escaped that side of it!

One of the dangers of this crowd-funded route is that the game becomes a victim of its own expectation.   We have built up such hopes for this game and people are so committed to it that we're in danger of setting our expectations at an unattainable level.   We just need to remember that during a normal development process we never get to see this stuff, so it really is a bonus to see anything at all.   We then just need to trust that the $ raised so far is not used to fund a month-long all-expenses paid SIG Employee Convention on Necker Island!

So far I love my ship choice. Everything looks amazing.

My computer doesn't seem to be cutting it though. This pre-alpha is harsher than what we can expect, but I'm getting a lot of motion blur when looking around.

What are you running Vargen?

I had the motion blur on a quad core, GTX 560, but not any more since I upgraded

I had motion blur on the previous hangar patch with an i4770K and 2x GTX770 SLI @ 2560x1600, but with this hangar patch the motion blur is almost entirely gone.    I still get a little when turning at *very* high speed, otherwise it's a huge improvement for me.    I expect as everything continues to get fine-tuned it will continue to improve and by release all of our PCs should be a bit faster anyway!

Fix found by a Brusce over at Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1yf082/is_your_ship_dark_inside_possible_fix/).

QuoteHit (`~) key to get into console then put in this string

r_DeferredShadingAmbientSClear = 1

and hit return. Then hit (`~) key to get back into hangar normal.

All lights are on.

From the evidence posted about this bug it does seem to only affect AMD GFX cards.

And this time it is just a patch. I think it said about 120mb.

30mb when logging in and around 90mb on launch.

I thought this only affected the Freelancer and the Constellation. Something you're not telling us :norty:

Can't believe they have spent time making the toilet usable in the Constellation.

But no, I've just been playing with that hangar utility to see how the other half live, flicking switches and playing with the other weapons. Driving around in the buggy and crashing through the crates in the deluxe hangar is the most action you can have yet.

I actually feel like the Aurora was a good choice as the best all rounder on a budget.

Although my hangar could do with the bulbs changing and a lick of paint.

I agree about that but it appears from the comments in the RSI forum that the Mustang is the preferred starter ship. Personally, I think the Mustang is a mess. Forward visibility is severely hampered by the inclusion of two huge headlamps and the use of existing bodywork as landing struts doesn't sit comfortably with me (all likely to change I know but pfft).

Depends on weapon mounts I suppose, my LN has 4 gun mounts and a missile pod, still waiting for specs for the Mustang, looks like 4 guns from the concept art.

There is a poll for a sale this weekend (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13598-Poll-Mustang-Sale).

I actually quite like the angles, it makes it stand out.   But I think the key thing is, as you said, this is concept art and it will change.   The freelancer had similar problems with cockpit visibility at the concept and early design stage and that ended up getting a redesign to sort out the problem.

I am still chomping at the bit to see the Banu MM in my hangar though

Re the poll for the sale - I'd rather see it not on sale for the moment, there's loads of other ships I'd rather see on sale.

I tried putting the lighting fix in the system.cfg and it doesn't work. Did some searching and the way to do it is to create a user.cfg in the same folder and put your edited configs in there. Tried with the lighting fix and all is good.

Haven't used/updated my SC for quite a while, so it's possible.

According to a forum post late last night by Wingman, all hangars are getting a makeover.  He advised that we should see the current hangars as pre-alpha hangars.
