I have been testing the connection but so far I only have 8 Mbit down and 1 Mbit up. I will have to do some configuring later on.

I finally got hold of my ISP and they explained what is going on. Apparantly they will deliver the VDSL connection during Febuary due to some technical complications with Alcatel that provides some of the hardware. Meanwhile they have upgraded my previous 2.5/0.75 Mbit connection to a 8/0.818 Mbit connection.
I guess I will have to wait and see what happens in February.
Now it all sounds very nice, high bandwidth an' all....BUT, if I had it I would be forced to run emule/kazaa/imesh 24/7 aquiring all of the graphypron of the internet which would lead to 2 distinct problems.
1. My hardrive space would be constantly short requiring vast purchases from electronics companies, pushing up demand for circuitry from the far east requiring more underpaid workers, leading to more neglected children and lower literacy rates, which in turn leads to a dumber generation manufacturing the electronics, leading to higher demand with lower supply then.....everybody suffers as the internet grinds to a halt.
2. I would develop ferocious blisters, that would weep inncessantly. They would need dressing and I would have to have a 24/7 nurse as per the singing detective. This would place a strain on the NHS at present, causing cuts and bed shortages. The bed shortages would lengthen waiting times, which would prevent Edna from Cleethorpes having the much needed hip operation she has been struggling to get. She would vent her wrath on Ernie, her husband, who would have to move out, the additional cost to the taxpayer would go up as they are forced to house Ernie, and help Edna with her disability, causing less tax money to be directed toward technology advances. This would cut spending on the internet and then...everybody suffers as the internet grinds to a halt.
I would therefore say that Sadako is being selfish by having such bandwidth and indirectly is preventing people like TL having the much needed injection of speed (and the drug) that they need. I hereby call for a stoning of the Scandanavian, using small lemmings, until he shares it with all of us, as he should.
