Within a month or two the Nvidia 880 should launch.  Considering your current specs, you shouldn't be hungry for frames; unless you have 30" screens.

As for SSDs read this and it's related articles (http://techreport.com/review/24841/introducing-the-ssd-endurance-experiment).

Hard drives, WD, Toshiba or Seagate.

Case, if you have cash to spend, take a look at the Cosmos2 by CoolerMaster.  It's a beauty.

Finally, X99 Haswell-E should be coming out this year, and that means 8 core, 16 thread cpu's with DDR4 ram.

Up to you really, but since you will also be playing StarCitizen, you should wait a while.

I just pulled the trigger on this upgrade from my Q9660 @ 2.9Ghz + 4G ram:

i5 4670 @ 4.3 Ghz + Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom CPU Cooler, 16G RAM, MSI Z87 gaming motherboard. Sweet deal @ 440 UKP fom overclockers.co.uk
I expect to play Star Citizen on it very nicely :)

However ....... I shall be keeping my almost as aged nVidia GTX460 for a while yet as my games and finances to not stretch to replacing that as well.
Hopefully I can get a GTX 770 towards the end of the year when the rumoured 880 knocks it's price down.

Basically I don't see move movement in the CPU market @ the price point I'm interested in from now to when SC is released but I do see movement in the GPU market, hence holding off for a bit longer.
