Dead Men Walking

For some time the officers have had discussions on the need to re-vamp the look of our community web site and forum.  They feel that new visitors to our forum, for example, are greeted with an obviously active and well-structured gaming forum but it's in stock vBulletin livery (which smacks of laziness - which we all know is not the case) and it just doesn't shout 'there be gamers here'.

Those discussions have resulted in a way forward which will see our community given the makeover it sorely needs. As a first stage it has been identified that the community needs a logo to represent the new dMw branding. Something that says who we are and what we are about. This new logo will form the basis for the rest of the branding exercise so it is very important that we have something that ticks all the right boxes. We know we have members with various skills in the graphic arts but what's needed at this stage is ideas.

So let's have your designs for a new community logo. :dmw:

There's just one basic ground-rule for this exercise. The logo must fit within a 200 pixel square.
Note: This does NOT mean the logo has to be square.

Some things to bear in mind when designing your logos ...

• This is not a competition so, consequently, there will be no 'winner' as such. This is an ideas gathering exercise that we hope everyone will make an effort to support so that the community as a whole wins.
• Our community's official name is 'Dead Men Walking' should you wish your design to feature it.
• Our ethos is based on teamwork, fair play and mature attitude.
• Multiple entries are absolutely fine. The more the merrier.
• Entries can be as simple as a scanned drawing - so no excuses about not being able to use Photoshop etc. :flirty:

So get those crayons out folks and let us have your ideas on what a good dMw logo would look like.

This is just to give a rough outline of my thinking, someone with better graphic skills could come up with a better design.  

We've used the skull a lot in the past including on our forum icon and i think it's part of the dMw brand.  The barbed wire signifies that we were conceived during conflict  (UT/CS) and the shaking hands is around our values.
Would be good if boths hands were made up of barbed wire as i tried to do with the frame connecting to the hands.

Like Whitey, I've gone with a skull too. Needs work but not in my skill set :doh:

I'd vote for the SC signature circle part.

Just add dMw underneath the wreath, or the whole name around it.

Like the clean lines of the star citizen skull, thought maybe something like the star citizen background with one bolder foreground skull and more fading into the background. Maybe with text or skeletal handshake below? Quick sketch, for some reason my only option is tapatalk hosted so how the image uploads...

Guys by going for skulls are we giving the wrong message out to prospective members? I mean we're not a heavy metal band. I think it should be a crest like a university crest or something formal. Not skulls.

One idea I had was to have an image of a head where it is sectioned to different games we support

For example, break the face into 4 quarters, top right corner will be a bf4 soldier face,  top left cs go terrorist face etc, and maybe the sun glasses could reflect image of dmr race car or star citizen (?) Ship.

Let's not criticise the ideas just yet, it'll discourage participation - just get the alternatives out there - the discussion comes after. I like our traditional skulls :-) and one could be worked into a coat of arms or snokio's split-head idea.

coat of arms is a good idea, maybe have a few of the different logo's incorporated in it?
