Title: Newbie Tips & Tricks
Post by: vobler on May 18, 2014, 12:22:10 PM
As I keep discovering stuff I just might as well post them here.

If you know something cool please do the same.

The latest I found out is how to use the Hangar shooting range.

Edit; forgot to mention the fire button is the left mouse button. ( Do not blame me for shooting you hangar to bits):)

Somewhere in your hangar there is another character. Go close to him  and press use to swap body with him.

If your dogfighting skills are rusty, here is a video from a guy that have found a couple of free games to practice on while we wait.

I have not tried them.

I managed to get the guns working. Crikey! Scary powerful things....not. Klingons will be laughing their socks off! :D  Found the lifts to the first floor (careful where you stand!) Couldn't find another character though. Hope he has more hair than the one I've got.

I had the Deluxe hangar before I traded in the cutlass. And the "bounty hunter" are on the gallery somewhere. Beside the box with all that stuff in it.

I found a demo for a game called Evochron. It seems much better for combat training than the others I mentioned.

This picture is the most important part of that post imo as it sets out how the various systems will interract.

Each pipe has a finite size, ie it can only cope with a certain amount of heat/data/power before becoming 'full'.    So it's down to us to get the balance of our components right to build the best ship to suit *our* needs.   Personally my razor-sharp FPS skills are a dulled somewhat by the excessive passing of years, so I'll be looking to focus on other aspects to compensate for my lack of bunny-hopping skills in my Banu Merchantman!

Wot 'e said.

It's why I've gone for the long range scanner variant of the Hornet - I'll let all the top guns know where their next target is while I stay out of harm's way :D

TL and I both have Banu MMs so that's a combined cargo carrying capability of 360 Tonnes. When we shift that amount of widgets from A to B for a huge pay-day we're gonna need a lot of firepower in support. That's the sort of coop mission I'm looking forward to :thumb:

And I will be behind you, waiting to be able to scoop up some valuable debris with my tractor beam....

Me too... :-)

Another great video about graphics and physics. I'm sure all the vets have seen this but it might be interesting for us newcomers.

That video led me on to this one. While not a 'tip' or 'trick' it truly made me wish I was 15 years younger!

Vets have seen this, I'm sure, but the narrator has a style that makes me WANT IT NOW!  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06Un1pEr5tA&feature=youtu.be)

Absolutely not :D

But here's my issue ...

My daughter gets married on Friday 30th May (all's cool, very nice chap).

Assuming no delay the game is released the day before when I'm running around in headless chicken mode doing this, that and the other culminating in a big dinner that will go on until late.

The day after the wedding is the wife's birthday so I'll be running around again doing all the post-wedding stuff during the day and celebrating with the missus in the evening.

So I won't get to actually peek outside those hangar doors until Sunday. :taz:

I wouldn't be too sad - it will probably take a couple of days for RSI's servers to stop exploding :/

I'm astounded that a man with your organisational skills can't reschedule an itty bitty wedding! As for sorting out a birthday, they have 'em every year right? Tell to get back to you on that one.

It's based on sign up date. early adopters get in straight away. People who bought it late will have to wait :)

Then again if all this domestic inconvenience is getting in the way of SC you could try this and start again......

I have a similar problem, we have the Friday off (thusday is Ascensionday and that is also not a workday) so we are going to Trondheim to visit our son at the University. (7 hours one way in motorhome) I'll be home late sunday and most likely be too knackered to do anything until monday evening. We'll see.
