How Cloud Imperium Games is going to earn money in 10 years of time without any form of subscription?
Keeping that sort of server power online 24/7 is now going to be cheap.

Apparel, cosmetics and other stuff perhaps?

They should also be releasing some SC hardware, which they will probably get a cut from.  Expansions might also have to be purchased.

Back in Oct 2012 Chris Roberts said that there will not be a monthly subscription.     Keep in mind that as we will be able to run our own private universe (if we wanted to) that a subscription model would not work for those!

In essence that means that it's a micro-payment game, but with a strong ethos of not being able to buy to win - there won't be anything on sale that is better than that ordinarily available to you within the persistent universe.  I even recall reading that there would be a limit on how much you could buy (can't find a source reference for that though, sorry).

Game sales, Voyager Direct sales etc should keep it ticking along nicely.

Yeah, I also heard about the monthly limit before.

If we will have space stations like most other space games, or is our hangars on a planet?

Your hangar could be in a number of places, mainly stations/planets, but some will be in asteroids.   You can have more than one hangar too, but that means more overheads to keep it all ticking over.

Probably in exactly the same way as Valve do with DOTA2, or Wargaming.net with World Of Tanks. High quality cosmetic items, 'premium' ships etc.

Certainly Valve have been incredibly successful in gaining revenue from a free-to-play model. They've proved it can be done, while keeping the game competitive for everybody.

It is not clear to me what the fuel on the ships are. Are we fuel limited?

On a long coop mission will we have to bring tankers?

Potentially yes.  I have a Starfarer for that precise purpose as it can not only harvest but process and refuel without the need to dock at a hangar/station.

Depends on mission length, distance to civilisation, and what sort of ships on the mission.

If we're out exploring, then its a requirement.  I'm not sure whether common craft will be able to transfer fuel over, I think it was covered in 10 for the chairman once.

From Wingman's Hangar 9 (//nT3klzdjEdI) (@ 12 mins):

Quote from: Chris Robertswe have interior sounds, exterior sounds that's already set in the engine right now. So thinking about it, potentially (I'm not gonna promise it) but that would actually be an option. I think the default is going to be like Star Wars or Star Trek where you have all the "pew-pew" but it may not be actually that difficult to have realistic space sound button on it, I won't promise it yet

There's also this thread on the forums which might be of interest as the responses come from Martin Galway, Director Of Audio for Cloud Imperium Games and Audio Director on Star Citizen and Squadron 42.

What do we do until SC or SQ42 is released with multiplayer?
It seems to me that it will be a year until this happens. One thing I suppose I could do is to bolt my wheel back on to my desk,
but I would love som MP action in some space game.

I suggest ($25 full game):

or

Vendetta Online.
(Subscription I think)

Anyone got better suggestions?

AC multiplayer is next and will probably not be too far away.

Really wonder how the fuel mechanic will work. If there will be unlimited conventional flight but fuel for jumps like in EVE. That could potentially lead to getting stuck looking for an alternate fuel source if you do your math wrong. If all engines require fuel it would just get really frustrating I would imagine.
