Any Assetto Corsa Player; Please
Private Message me your
Steam GUID as well as the
Driver Name you would like to use on the server.
You can get your
Steam GUID from here :
My Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\race.ini . In this file look for the following section :
[REMOTE], you will see your
GUID=#### a few lines down.
**NB : This file is only filled with info like the GUID
after you have been booked on at least one online server, make sure you do this or the file will be blank with no GUID. (Thanks Aquilifer)
About PreBooking- This system is pretty good. It allows any PreBooked driver to join during Practice/Qualifying and even Race.
- It seems it is only the GUID that is important. Eg if my game name is Seany and I put my name as Batman in the prebooking list, it will still let me join, but my name will be Batman.
- Information for PreBooking is put into a file called entry_list.ini. This is what it looks like:
[CAR_0]DRIVERNAME=Seany ;;Driver name in game, but like I say, it does not have to be the same as your ACTUAL game name (plenty of mickey taking opportunities here :P)
TEAM=dMr ;;Don't think this matters much. I will just put DMr for now.
MODEL=abarth500_s1 ;;You have to specify the car the driver will use, you can't change it before you join. If you try to prebook more than one car the Client crashes when they try to join.
SKIN=light_blue_orange ;;You have to specify the skin the driver will use, you can't change it before you join. If you leave this blank it seems to use the Default skin.
GUID=############## ;;The important part of this file. This is your Steam GUID which can be found in :MyDocuments\Assetto Corsa\cfg\race.ini\[REMOTE]\GUID=####
SPECTATOR_MODE=0 ;;Haven't figured what this is yet.
[/LIST]
I have the List of GUID's and names. Private Message me if you would like a copy to use for making Server configs etc.
Nice one Batman :)
Hey Batman,
Joker's GUID:
:-)
BTW: Not sure, but my feeling would be a bit better, if we could make this thread private for members, if this is possible? Just in case there are real Jokers out there...
I checked around quite a bit and haven't found (yet :) ) any way that some one could use your Steam Id for malicious purposes. I think it is meant to be available, publicly, for anyone to use for situations like this where you are organising groups of steam players for steam servers.
But...I have no problem moving this thread to the Admin section, or some where similar, if you all would prefer that. Either way, Neys, you can remove yours for the moment if you like, no problem. I have it written down now.
Maybe Tealeaf (or anyone else familiar with Steam) would have more insight.
We could always just do this via PM if it helped? I have not had a chance to look at the AC number yet, so I have no idea if it can be dangerous to have it posted here. I'll try to do a web search at the weekend to find out, bit rushed for time atm, sorry!

Sorry, I didn't read the whole post and so I missed the link in the OP. After reading it, it seems to be safe to have the GUID public...

Ok, cool. We'll continue to put them it the first post.
Cheers guys.

When I try to check my GUID it is empty. The whole [REMOTE] section is like this for me
[REMOTE]
ACTIVE=0
SERVER_IP=
SERVER_PORT=
FIRST_NAME=
LAST_NAME=
TEAM=
GUID=
Sorry! I should have checked this sooner, got involved racing and forgot!
Make sure it's the one on your My Documents folder. I see there is one in the Game Installation folder that is just blank, like above.
PM it to me and I'll have you added to the booking list. ;)
Yep, I had noticed it already. They are both similar.
I wonder if the game gets messed up if the Windows is not English speaking.
EDIT: BTW. It complains the PW is not correct when trying to join normally. I assume it was the same pw as listed in the pw section of the forum for LFS servers.
Bit of thinking and I thought the reason could be that I had never played online yet. Quick testing and voila now it shows. Maybe OP could add a note in the first post that you have to have booked yourself at least in one server before.
As a side note the whole server joining system sucks. And this prebooking thing...not sure but does it mean that these slots are always reserved even if these people are not joining or do they get released to other people if they do not show up in the booking time?
Cheers Aqui.

Ahh, well spotted. Didn't know about that one! I'll update the first post

Yes, Yes it does :) . Oddly it seems the only ones who are not aware of this are the Kunos, the Assetto developers!

You are correct with your first assumption, the slots are permanently booked (/reserved). You'll notice that even if you join the server alone you will see all the cars of every other prebooked player sitting in their pit box. This seems hugely wasteful of resources to me ( I bet Mr Efficiency - Scawen Roberts is laughing his ass off at stuff like this :D ).
The main advantage of prebooking is that, if we are having some racing and some one shows up late (after booking is over and we are in a race or qual) they can still join. Previously they would of had to sit around for 10-15mins mins until the server went back round to booking again, or we would have rebooted the server to force it back to booking.
Hopefully they (Kunos) have received enough criticism for the current MP system that they will rethink it. There are supposed to be some big updates soonâ,,¢ to do with graphics and Client Netcode. I really hope it contains some fixes to improve this horrible system!
Feel free to
delete your GUID from this thread, Aquilifer. I have it written down now.

Somehow, that just sounds wrong..... :getmecoat:
lmao I must have proof read it 10 times, still missed somthin' ! DOH! :roflmao:
Yeah. It's kind of sad because I don't think we have ever had a completely full house like in LFS. Besides often you meet great people who accidently join the server. ...and some of them might even join dMr eventually
It seems Kunos is fan of tradition. Didn't people complain the netcode in nkPro was rubbish? :)
Thanks for adding me to the list Sean.
I still can not figure out why I could join the Dead Men / Dominants Monkeys server and not the DMr Racing server yesterday though...
Multiplayer seems very "in progress", I'll say politely that the potential for improvement is huge ;)
The BMW1M car at Donnington was fun! I'll dig into setups next...

Yeah, sorry we all disappeared on you after a race. The FPS loss was too much for some people making the game unplayable due to all the Booked cars sitting in the pit lane. How was your FPS on the Donington server?
If the communication system was a bit better we could have told you where we were going through chat, but as you have seen it is pretty awful! That's why I suggested to come on TS! You probably didn't have the password for the 2nd DMR server?
Any way, thanks for coming along. I'm not sure what I am going to do about this whole Prebook system...I took ages to get everyone's ID and set it all up and now it looks like having that many prebooked cars makes the game to laggy for some...I dunno what to do, it sucks...'cause when when the racing starts and everyone is going ok, it's lots of fun!...ahh well.
Hi,
i already gave my GUID to Seany on SCCC forum and hope to drive a bit with you all soon ;)
I'm so frustrated :taz:with the multi-player system that I've decided to use AC as a single player until Kunos take the lead out of their a*** and give us a half decent system. Its pathetic, and as far as I can see its a retrograde step from what was produced for nKPro (if that were possible ). So Sean, if it helps, take my GUID number off the booking system on the hope it improves the frame rate for others.
Thanks for all your efforts to make sense of their incomprehensible 'system'?
Heh heh np Duck (and others), thanks for the support :) . I like the core of the game and am interested enough to keep chipping away at it to get it working. I think it will be worth it once it works properly.
Good news though: They often have to delay their updates, but it looks as though the next update will remove the need for all this prebooking nonsense and give us a pickup and play race system (heck knows what their interpretation of that will be :D can't be any worse than this...can it ??!). Hopefully in a week or so it will be ready. At least we know it's on the way.
It looks like this week's combo (Elise @ GenTrack1) may be ok as far as FPS goes. So I can leave you on for another try this Monday if ya like? The combos is pretty tame too, nothing too wild.
