Dead Men Walking (DMW) are a long-established and mature gaming community with an active and highly social membership.
Since 1996 we've played a variety of different games together. Where it is possible we provide our own gaming servers too and also organize regular social events such as LAN parties, etc. Whilst the largest contingent of members are based in the UK, we have members from across the whole of mainland Europe.
We value friendship, fun & teamwork in an atmosphere of mature respect. Our members are typically 18+ yrs, so if you are significantly younger please be aware that you'll need to fit in with our mature membership.
Your skill level is less important to us, but you as a person are. If you get on well with our members then you'll have found a great social home for your Citizenship.
DMW will be aiming to run lots of coop within SC when it launches as that's what allows us to be sociable whilst we're playing. We'll be exploring, discovering rich resource locations, salvaging, escorting or doing anything that allows us to work as a team.
We're probably closest to 'chaotic neutral' in the RSI sense, we'll fight for the little guy, defend what's right and stick the boot in to some baddies when we see it, all whilst sipping on a damn fine beer and having a great chat.
We're social, not hardcore. Our members have a real life too so a good work:life balance is important to us, so we play hard and have fun when we can, then put our ships into a safe orbit and return to our real-life family.
We run our own Teamspeak server with a dedicated SC channel (hidden amongst our other game channels), so if you're looking for some space-faring fun as part of a great team then look no further.
If you want to join us then why not reply to this post and introduce yourself and then send us a message or apply via the RSI website (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/DMW).

Hi all
Arcon/Joe here, I'm 24 years old from south east England, working as a Plumbing and Heating engineer.
My spare time is filled with playing MMO's mainly Elder Scrolls Online at the moment, but have played WOW, SWToR, TSW and a few others that have slipped my mind right now. I dabble in a bit of BF4, Payday 2, Diablo 3 and ARMA 3. Been following SC since the start of 2014 and really looking forward to it, I've already bought the Aurora LN and Constellation but I'm pretty sure my card wont stay in my wallet for long!
If you would like to know anything more about me please send me an email at itsarcon AT gmail DOT com
Look forward to talking with you guys further!
Joe.
Welcome mate, glad you posted up, yes lots of us are also feeling the wallet being emptied:)
Have a look around the forum we play quite a lot of the games you listed.
Welcome to the forum :)
Welcome aboard. Hope you enjoy your stay! :)

Hi all,
I just applied via RSI Forums and believe i should say hello here too... HELLO :D
I'm an old old gamer, 44yo to be precise, married, kids, house, etc, hence why your description seemed perfect ! I've been a backer of SC since the end of the kickstarter, i've owned far too many ships, but currently have an M50 & Lancer MIS plus a ton of store credit (Shhhhhhhh, don't talk about it), intend to add one more ship before launch of the PU.
I've played so much stuff i don't even know where to start, lots of MMO's, a lot of flight sims & racing stuff, a little FPS, also enjoy the odd good single player type thing, Far Cry & Crysis spring to mind that i played recently.
I work from home, so i'm often around as much during the day as in an evening, though i can always free up a night or two for a session with mates.
I hope the above suffices as enough info to class as my application, if you need any more info feel free to ask,
Cheers
Andy
Hi Andy
Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the trouble to introduce yourself. Much appreciated :thumb:
I've added you to our RSI Org and to the section here. Lots to digest here so grab a beer, take a look around and be sure to check out the LAN details.
Also, feel free to jump on Teamspeak and have a chat.
Cheers for the swift approval :)
I'll have a good look around tomorrow, is anyone ever online week day afternoons by any chance ? if not no worries i shall pop on Teamspeak to say hello one evening.
Thanks again !
Hi Andy welcome to dMw glad you found us.
We are usually around most evenings playing other things whilst we wait for SC. Best place to be is on teamspeak there's usually a few of us about.
:D

^^This seems spookily familiar to me! Welcome Andy, with those traits you're going to fit right in! How did you find us btw?
Looking forward to meeting you on TS one night.
welcome mate glad to have you on board. Hope to see you on ts or a server soon.
Found you guys via Reddit, was browsing /starciten, spotted /Starcitizen/UK then a thread with someone asking about a UK based exploration guild, a few guilds had put info in there but dMw info just jumped out at me :)
Ah, that was me! I don't often jump onto Reddit, but happened across that thread so posted up our details as it seemed to suit the kind of thing we'll be doing. Glad to have another Admiral onboard, welcome!
I think a fair few of us are looking to add more ships prior to launch, I'm particularly interested in seeing more details on the:
Carrack (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/carrack/Carrack) - for long distance exploration, crew medical and repair facilities and mapping-oriented sensors for jump charting
Orion (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/orion/Orion) - for mining (I have a Starfarer so it seems a decent fit)
Surveyor (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/surveyor/Surveyor) - for salvage work
I'm 100% that I will grab a Carrack, it seems a perfect spec for us and it's the only one with a crew medical & repair facility at the moment.
I'm also intrigued by the Herald (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/herald/Herald). The idea of data-running seems fun, but I'm not totally convinced (yet).
Welcome to dMw :-)
Hi guys! I hope you don't mind, but I'm having a look around your forums as I like the feel of the place. I'm trying to decide whether to leave my current org for one that's based in the UK. I like them, but they're too international and not very active.
I've got an exploration focus in SC, so would very much be on that side of things. I've picked up a few ships which I'd very much like to share :D
Cheers!
Hi Justin, welcome to the forums! You can see our current fleet here (http://77.108.135.2/dmwfleet/index.php) and we've got a fair number of exploration-interested members to add to the ships. We're also expecting to add at least a couple of Carracks (exploration-focused ships) when they come out, so we'll be fairly well geared for exploration.
Feel free to look around, but if you want talk to someone to ask any questions then feel free to pop onto our TS server and speak to us. (I'm in the Star Citizen channel atm for example). We're a friendly bunch and don't bite! :P
Enjoy your stay and hope to hear from you
Thanks! The more I read, the happier I am to have found you. I can't do TS a lot, I'm afraid - toddler and small business means I don't get to play a lot. I'll make sure I hop on when I get a chance though! I'd like to get more involved.
Anyway I've sent an org join request on RSI. Any chance you'll have a stranger like me on board?
Quote from: Justin Tolerable;388409toddler and small business means I don't get to play a lot.
Been there, done that (as have many members), so we feel your pain! :roflmao:
In the mean time we've accepted your application on the RSI website and hope to get to have a chance to talk to you soon. There are plenty of people playing different games on our TS server every night, so just jump in and say hello!
Welcome to the DMW Fleet!
Horray! Where do I park my ships then? I hear you have a fleet survey?
Yeah, gaming has taken a knock, but it'll always be there! It's been too deeply ingrained over the last few decades ;)

Oldbloke will give you a login ID and password for the fleet survey, about 70% of members have updated it so far (come on the other 30%, fill in your details please!) and the aim is to keep it up to date yourself as your fleet changes with time. Hopefully it will become redundant once the Fleet Tab becomes operational on RSI's site. In the mean time you'll find the summary here:
http://77.108.135.2/dmwfleet/index.php
It sounds like a good idea to me. How can people NOT want to add theirs? Isn't most of the fun of this game imagining what you'll do with all the shiny while we wait for it to be released? Right - will start posting this in appropriate threads :)
Hi guys!
Obsydian/Paul here. A time-honoured member of the older generation of gamers (I turned the big 50 recently), I've worked in IT all my adult life and played games as and when I can.
Married amd a father of 4 kids (all now rapidly getting older themselves), I'm starting to get back into gaming a bit more.
Having grown up in the era of single player games and where the only contact you had with other members of multi-player games was via in-game chat or bulletin boards (remember those?), this is only the second gaming community that I've ever been a part of, my first being an EVE Online corporation (I stopped playing EVE once I'd heard of Star Citizen as SC was looking like the sort of game I thought EVE was going to be before I installed EVE and found out you couldn't get out of your ship!), so I'm probably going to be quite quiet to begin with (on comms at least - I plan on being a bit of a forum whore :D).
I don't really play many other games, but used to spend a lot of time in WoW before moving on to EVE, where I ran 4 accounts for a number of years.
Anyway, I was hoping to make the move from EVE to SC with my old Corp mates, but they don't seem to be budging and the few who have joined are not particularly active, so I went in search of a new community that I could join. One that is active, enthusiastic about SC yet relaxed enough not to kick me if I don't put in an appearance for a while. I've looked at many organisations within the game and their respective websites and forums, looking for something that feels right, and I think I've found it in you guys!
I am the main organiser of the Star Citizen UK meetup group and promote that wherever I can. I am a Grand Admiral (don't ask!) and am so hyped about this game that the guys at work actively try to steer clear of the subject of gaming, space ships or sci-fi in general for fear of sparking me off! Still haven't managed to convert anyone though (probably the glint in my eye puts them off...).
So, if you'll have me, I'll be happy to join your ranks and slowly find my way around, and look forward to joining you on comms at some point and hooking up for some co-op fun in Arena Commander.
Paul.
Welcome onboard Paul (from another Paul). Oldbloke has sorted you an invite to the org, so I look forward to meeting you on TS sometime next week when we're all back from the lan.
Sorry you could not make the meet today, there's about 40 of us here.
BTW, you are the org's 50th member, so congratulations to you and us!
Hi Obsydian! Good to have you here! I only just joined too, they've been nice to me so far :)
Your story seems pretty similar to mine - and it's nice to have another GA here (don't ask me and I won't ask you). Are you responsible for the second 890? Going to be one hell of a party!
Hi. Not been here that long either. Everyone is cool and they can put up with me too which is a bonus! ;)
Welcome mate and hope you enjoy your time here any question just shout
Welcome, Obsydian. Very pleased to see you here :thumb:
Welcome :) I'm relatively new here too and have found the guys here a great, informative and friendly bunch, we seem to be building a very nice little Org here !!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I look forward to getting to know you all.
@JT: I'm not responsible for the second 890, that was already there, but I am responsible for the third! :blush2:

No, I wouldn't want to have two more 890's in my hangar. It takes too long to get from one end to the other as it is.
Well la De da! Mr my hanger is too big
I have to set my ships far apart so my grey cat gets to do something
:p seriously. Your hanger must be huge

What's the latest on this ? I'd always assumed that the huge ships come with the Asteroid hangar so they can be "moored" externally.... The VFG hangar is big but still not sure it's big enough for an Idris or 890 internally.
We may not see larger ships for some time, perhaps nearer PU alpha release?
Ben did say in one of the ATV (or possible Reverse the Verse) that they were working on the Landing Pad System, which I took to mean outside dog the hangars themselves.
If that's correct, then I would think that the larger ships will park on landing pads rather than hangars.
Not sure how they would integrate them with the hangars though.

Ha ha - it was only tongue-in-cheek bravado, based on my complete lack of self-control :D My Hangar isn't very big actually. Most of the expense has been the big LTI ships that will be expensive to acquire and insure in-game. So they're not in the hangar yet. The Idris, Starfarer and 890 will surely expand it a fair bit though! For now there's just a Phoenix, M50, 350R, Avenger, Super Hornet and two more hornets in there. My hangar is currently only 3 of five bays full.
The latest I've heard is that the Idris will be 'available in the hangar', but that it will also be 'accessible in a cool way' (said by Erin from F42 in a monthly report a couple of months ago). So this suggests it's not just going to be sat in some insanely massive room.
Quote from: TeaLeaf;389506We may not see larger ships for some time, perhaps nearer PU alpha release?
Unless something has changed (always possible), the Idris should be available soon. It was planned to be 'in hangar' by this September, so it's obviously slipped. In August we were told that it was 'nearly ready' and they were 'just finishing the bridge' (forget the source, I think it was ATV). So my suspicion is that they've got it mostly ready but it'll be used as a stage for the upcoming FPS module. Hopefully I'll also get it in the hangar too :D

Honestly mate. I'm pulling your leg. If anything I'm happy that everyone is pulling together. I can't help but he a bit jealous though ;) heck with any luck I can be a bus boy and serve drinks on one of the 890s.
I've just thought of a new rank for the org!! Lol
If that idris does get finished that would be amazing. Can't wait until the tour videos come out for that bad boy!
Hi gang! Signed up to this forum today. I was browsing round the interwebs looking for a worthwhile gang to join. I couldn't find one so I decided to come here instead.
Looking forward to bounty hunting. And, you know, space stuff.

May I ask where you found us?

I think it was something pretty bizarre like searching 'UK' in the forums over at the RSI forums. It wasn't quite that, but something like it...
Welcome!
Cool thanks froge hope you enjoy yourself here and hope to see you on the servers.

I for one appreciated the picture of the kitten.
Welcome.
I thought I'd post here to introduce myself to the Star Citizen community. Been following SC since Jan 2014, I'm targeting exploration and my first buy was the Freelancer DUR, I then moved on to the Carrack which is my favourite ship. Since then I've tried to round my fleet out a bit:
Hull B (Hauler)
Starfarer (Industry)
BMM (Trader)
Super Hornet - (bought upgrade to Vanguard) (Military)
Carrack (Group Exploration)
DUR (Solo Exploration)
I'm always going to keep my Carrack and Freelancer but may melt the rest for a Endeavor depending on how the game develops. (May need those money making ships!) :)
Look forward to seeing you all in the verse
Hi Kal-Nor,
Pop over to our Org page and click the 'Join Us Now' button and we'll process the application. Oldbloke will be along shortly to organise your login details for the DMW Fleet Tool, so you can register your ships (nice fleet btw, I love the BMM - it's my favourite!) and also see what we're all flying.

Thanks Tealeaf application done..
Obsidian if I had that in writing the Endeavor would be in ship list soon. I bought the Hope with extras and melted so once the new unmelt tool comes out I've got it covered. Looking at the Idris sale today, tempted but I'd need to melt and get lucky. Im not into the time limit sales as it's just to hit and miss. Plus I'll be watching Star Wars by then and not even a Idris is worth missing that. :)
