Title: Short is not short?
Post by: TeaLeaf on June 22, 2014, 07:45:05 AM
I know I'm getting old and grumpy, but:

It's lovely warm weather so I pulled out a pair of shorts and found that they were finally passed their best, so I jumped onto the shopping websites and looked to buy a replacement pair of shorts.......and that's when it happened.      Why are 'shorts' no longer short?

I know Michael Jordan made the shin-length diapers popular in the eighties, but I like my knees (and god damn it even the lower thigh) to actually see some daylight.   99% of what sells for shorts these days actually cover yours knees! If I wanted to wear a sleeping bag I'd google for that term, I want shorts!

Damn kids these days, they leave school unable to use a ruler to figure out where shorts should stop and knees begin.:frusty:

Yeah, you have to go to a shop with old stock, or perhaps visit sportsdirect as they do have some, sometimes.

It's the same thing for jeans, if I'm going to buy a new pair, I don't want a damaged one..  I want a pair with all it's proper colour, and not torn in any place.  Recently I've also noticed that most sneakers come in the flat sole variety, which aren't comfortable at all.

I think what you're looking for are called "Daisey Dukes" now TL.

Weird. I saw lots of shorts in the above knee category last week, and am currently wearing a pair I got from uniqlo. Maybe you need to come down to London for your fashion needs.

Might have to indeed!   Interestingly Uniqlo seem to only have knee-length shorts on their website (http://www.uniqlo.com/uk/store/list/basic/men/bottoms/shortsandcrops) at the moment!   I'll find something I am sure, but it's a pain to have to sift through 99% dross to find the ones I want.
