Title: Mad Max
Post by: Snokio on June 28, 2014, 11:09:45 AM
It's been on the cards for a decade, but now it's happening, Mad Max the reboot.

(Although I always liked the original and doubt it will be better).

The movie industry annoys me,  why can't they come up with an original idea instead of doing reboots and often getting it wrong dragging the movie through the mud.

Original titles take time & effort, reboot or remake something & you've already got an audience ready & waiting.

Point taken,  hopefully this is good as I like most of the films Tom Hardy has been in.

Can anyone name a re-boot that is as good as or better than the original?

Asking for a friend :)

The new Star Treks maybe? The Fly & The Thing are remakes, would they count? True Grit was pretty good too..... & that's about my lot.

Batman with Christian Bale was a lot better than the crappy   George Clooney Val Kilmer efforts.

It's easy to make exciting trailers that grab the attention but harder to make a film that does the trailer justice. I worry that it will be doomed though. Tom Hardy was outstanding in Bronson and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but Mel Gibson IS Mad Max. The remake looks like exactly that, a film that looks just like the original (Mad Max 2) but with no Mel Gibson, no Bruce Spence and no Veron Wells. I'm sure it will make a lot of money though :eyebrow:

However it does have Charlize Theron in it ........

Imagine how awesome it would be if they put all that time, effort & money into making something original....

I'm still waiting for someone to tap into the astonishingly good works of Iain M Banks for a movie. Now that would something worth seeing.

I would normally agree on the subject (It's like a cover song where the so called artist just sing lyrics written by a real artist and they cash in which REALLY annoys me - especially if there is little skill - i.e. no Instruments played), however, with reboots, there has been golden ones, Nolan's Batman stands out and IMHO is so much better than the orginal. i sit on the fence till I see it as always though

Here here for originally I too also dislike re-makes and normally as soon as I see the trailer for a re-make I think to myself "couldn't they come up with something that's original" but the trailer for mad max has made me want to go see it!
