So I was getting a few laps in on the current Lotus/Vallerenga setup on Saturday got down to a 1:56.753 using my G27 race rig and manual gears with clutch, saw Sparko drop me a line saying "come on the server we got a few on"
wheel stopped working .... Flashing LED on the gear shifter and rev lights stuck on full on the wheel and no steering at all.
Removed drivers etc rebooted discovered by win 7 okay but a slight twitch right then right again during the wheel startup not the usual wrist breaking 450 in each direction /sigh nowt !
checked warranty and its out by a few months :(
So opinions please best to still go for a G27 or is there now something so amazing (for about the same dolla ish) that its a must have.
I'm going to order something later this week so any ideas on the back of a fiver to the usual address :)

The same thing happened on my G25 a few years ago, and I had a chat with Logitech service dept (in Spain) and asked for
a few suggestions. They told me to try a few different things which didn't help and I reported this back to them. After very
little persuasion and emailing (at their request) a copy of my invoice from Overclockers, the guy said well they could not supply a new G25 as
they had ceased production but would a G27 be OK?:yahoo: So I can't fault their after sales.
I recall that Seany had a good experience with them as well. so give them a call first.

The brother in law had a G27 that went wonky a few months out of warranty ... He got in touch with them and they still replaced it (They asked him to destroy it and send a photo of the bits)
Worth an email for sure
ahhh Mr Duck beat me to it :D
A fair few people on the lfs forum have also reported the same over the years, certainly worth a try :)
nice work gents will give it a go :)

Email sent...fingers crossed brought in June 2011:unsure:
Good luck! For my 2nd RMA (which was out of warranty) they gave me a 50% discount voucher on a g27 which I was pleased with.
oh well back to suggestions for new kit it is then......:(
Thank you for contacting Logitech Customer Care. My name is Jozsef and I will gladly assist you with your request.
I understand that you are having an issue with your Logitech G27 Racing Wheel. This is certainly not the experience Logitech wishes for its valued customers to have with our products .
I regret to inform you that your warranty expired. Please try the device with an other computer, doing a clean installation and test the device. If you have same problem with the other computer, unfortunately the device is faulty. Because the warranty is expired unfortunately we can not replace the device.
Well that sucks!
Just emailed them back with a "well if that's the best you can do looks like I will have to take a long hard look at what to buy next !"
is this similar to your issue?

Looks more to be the internal screw issue as the lights nice and bright, flashing hopelessly but bright (goes dim when the power brick is unplugged)
Will wait to see if they come back to me with anything, as I don't want to invalidate my non existent warranty :), if not then its time for surgery /looks for hammers
I had a power supply issue with my g27 some time ago. I don't know is you issue with psu, but the unit feels bit fishy. I didn't want to go for RMA, because I should have sent the whole thing to the place where I bought it and then wait God knows how long. I ordered a replacement psu for 10 euroes. I suppose Logitech knows these China made psus blow up all the time because they sell them as replacements.
So I got my second email from them which pretty much said "its broke and out of warranty" so thought I'd go for 1 last assault (bad day at work feeling mean !)
Hi there,
So far then we have established 2 things
1)its broken
2)its out of warranty
As you can see from initial enquiry I am asking for some help with how do I go about fixing it ? ie: do I need a spare part, is there a known case of this happening before ?
Whilst it would be awesome for you to send me a new one when out of warranty as a fabulous goodwill gesture to a long time Logitech supporter (typing this on a G15 keyboard and using a G9x mouse !) it was certainly not what I was asking for.
You can't reasonably expect a device that's just 2 months out of warranty to be completely broken without any idea why.
can you at least point me in the direction of a recommended Logitech repair centre, I simply can't accept that telling me its broke and out of warranty can be classed as customer service in any way shape or form, and to be honest expected much better from a well known brand such as Logitech.
If this is something that you are unable to deal with please can you pass this along to your supervisor or someone else who can possibly give me a more constructive answer
regards
Still after some opinions on the best current wheel/gear/pedal combo's (although I reckon most will be saying G27)

:( sorry , hope it wasn't me that caused it, I just got excited and saw you playing it so thought I would give you a nudge
still no luck with Logitech, just the standard "nope not happening fool"
Looking around at what's out there, thinking I might go for the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 Wheel, which is about £7 cheaper than a new G27 and has some excellent reviews vs the G27 all around, but its only the wheel.
The bonus is that they provide an adapter with the wheel that allows you to use the G27 pedal set (of which I now have a spare one !) then as needed can be replaced with the clubsport elite pedal set which looks nice as it has a load cell, oil damped brake pedal, one for the future maybe.
My mate got a fanatec and it is mightly impressive he waxs lyrical about it.
Ordered.. will be available for testing on the race rig come October LAN :)
Good luck with the new wheel.
Is it just me but I've beginning to feel Logitech quality is not anymore quite what it used to be. My problem list is G27 PSU, earlier MX518 mouse and now G300 (or was it G400) is beginning to 'behave'
shame you got no joy out of Logitech Fatbob. Ahh well, new stuff on the way! I would have tried to give more advice, but to be honest, I myself am really not looking forward to having to replace my G27. I'd have no idea what to replace it with. I do like the way some manufacturers are making there wheel compatible with the G27 hardware (like shifter etc). One thing I know for sure, I would want to keep a clutch pedal and H shifter.
You can let us know how the Fanatec goes!
