The Reclaimer sale has boosted backing and raised just under $1m in two days, pushing us past the $55m barrier!
And hitting this stretch goal gives ...
QuoteBallistic Gatling â€" Preacher Armament Inquisition XXII
Preacher’s Inquisition XXII is the weapon to turn to when you want complete target saturation. Its dual-ammo feed allows you to hotswap feeds without exiting your ship, giving every owner the ultimate flexibility to pick the ammo based on the situation. This Arena Commander upgrade will be given to all players who pledged before we reached the 55M goal.
And it will sit at the front of my 325 :D

A lot of very useful info for people to absorb from that letter. It answers the questions that most people have in the back of their minds when considering SC.
Yep I was going to cut and paste an early paragraph as a quote but turns out the whole letter is a joy to read.
Yeah, the letter was brilliant. It makes me confident in their ability to make this a viable long term project. CR clearly has his ear to the ground and his head screwed on properly. Someone with good business sense, good PR skills and a proven track record in making great games is the perfect front man for CIG.

This is where I think CIG has the edge over Frontier. I have no doubt at all regarding Mr. Braben and his abilities - he's been in the industry for a long time. But he just doesn't seem quite as 'good' (for lack of a better word) as CR. I'm sure people will disagree, I don't even know why I think it to be honest.
You're not imagining things - I get that feeling too. ED will be a great game, but it feels like something to play while I wait for SC. Part of that is because I feel CR has the same passion for this kind of thing as I do, whereas Frontier seems one step behind (despite the fact that significantly more progress has been made there... don't ask me to rationalize it please!).
Agreed. Graphics aside take a look at the.features that were available in frontier elite 2. We're not even there yet. It's not bad, we're just going through old footsteps at the moment
Quoteor continually strive to make the art assets better. Just compare the Hornet from October 2012 to the current PBR Hornet in Arena Commander
That explains why each "major" patch feels like you're downloading the game again over again.
I might need more than 50Gig a month just to accommodate playing this!
Genuinely..
I'm quite "Freak"ed out by how much money is being poured into this game.. Is it run by the American Government?
it would be nice to have somethng more from CR than dogfighting or looking at your hanger tho at the moment.

You have to remember where we are though Sneaky. We're
pre-alpha on a game that is not due out in multi-player until 2016, so any expectation or hope to see something other than arena commander and the hangar is way out of line. They haven't even finished designing the ships, let alone the universe they will be flying in! This game is massive, way bigger in scope than Elite imo, you can't just roll something out when a lot of 'the next bit' is so heavily inter-linked:
https://robertsspaceindustries.com/project-status
The project status page gives you a real high level view of pre-alpha status. All of those chunks are dependent upon one another.
In my estimation it will be 12 months from now before we're in a similar position to Elite's recent alpha testing of their universe, so SC's Alpha PU might be out Q4 2015. Squadron 42 might be
released Q4 2015 too, but I would not be surprised if it slipped into Q1 2016. The MMO side of the game that I'm so looking forward to is more likely to be mid-2016. All dates are wild guesses at the moment, but they are more or less in line with the community's expectations.
Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best. If the final game is even half of what has been promised, it'll be amazing! Well worth the wait imo. But I get what is being said. Some character widgets or something would be a welcome change from guns. But I see what's happening. The communities water is being tested while a testing the pipeline.
I think there's a stage where, when the honeymoon period of excitement is over, we go through a period of doubting the hype - I know I did. Then they release another great concept and BOOM! the excitement's back.
Sneaky - I suggest you (and anyone who hasn't already done so) reads these two pieces:
- The latest 'Letter from the Chairman'. (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14184-Letter-From-The-Chairman)
- The latest 'Monthly Report'. (https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14191-Monthly-Report-September-2014)
Certainly got my juices flowing :dribble:
yeah i understand that it's pre alpha etc, just we're plowing alot of money into a game that at the moment is a 1 lvl demo, don't get me wrong its gonna be awesome game in the end,
i just think at the £55m mark we should have more than a dogfight module, only giving my opinion guys don't shoot me down in flames.lol

There's an announcement due end of this week I believe.

The second link (the monthly report) kind of outlines why we're not getting more at the moment. More right now means either an FPS or an MMO PU. Neither is ready as you can see from the massive amount of work underway at the moment.
If you wanted a Trabant then $55m can get you one real quick. OTOH if you're building the 'best god damn car ever' then it might take a little longer to get to release stage!
Yeah i get what your saying TL, i'll leave it there.
